You hear the same things over and over again about how to succeed in college, but you never seem to do what is recommended to you. Here's a list of some simple ways to make sure you stay on top of your schoolwork and do well during this semester.
1. Plan Ahead

2. Go to Office Hours
I know you've probably heard a million times that you should go to office hours, but you're going to hear it again! Office hours are crucial if you go to a big school or if you're in large classes. Office hours are the only way to assure that you get to know your teacher on a more personal level. If your teacher knows your name and see that you put in effort, you might get a few bonus points for your effort and participation!
3. Go to Tutoring
Tutoring can provide you with extra practice problems or answer things that seem vague or unclear to you. Sometimes a tutor explains something differently and it'll click in your head. Most colleges have a free tutoring center filled with tutors who took the same classes as you! If this is the case, they've been there before and can help you in so many different ways,
4. Read Ahead
Reading ahead is super important. I know that reading can be boring, confusing, and frustrating if you have not seen the material yet; however, if lecture is the second time you're seeing the material, it will be familiar to you. I know that most people push their reading to the bottom of the to-do list, but I really encourage you to actually buy the textbook and read it!
5. Get Involved
Force yourself to wake up at least 40 minutes before class. You want to make sure that you are awake and alert. Going to class is absolutely pointless if you're just going to doze off!
7. Ask Questions
Don't be afraid to raise your hand if you don't understand something. Professors tend to love when people are paying attention and engage in the lecture. If you're too shy to ask questions in class, you can always go to office hours!
There you have it! A list of way to succeed this semester. They may all seem trivial, but don't take this advice for granted. There's no better feeling than doing more than the bare minimum and seeing awesome results!
Good Luck!!!!
