6 Ways to Get Fit for Spring Break

1. Drink Water!

This one is a must. We all know we're supposed to drink a certain amount of water everyday, but a lot of us don't really know how much water to drink or how to fit drinking water into our everyday agendas. I recommend the app, Plant Nanny. This app is super cute and sends reminders throughout the day that your plant is thirsty, thus reminding you to drink more water yourself. You get to pick from a multitude of different plants and planters and give them personalized names. However, if you forget to drink water and to feed your plant on multiple occasions it will die and let me tell you, it's devastating so do your best to avoid that and stay hydrated!

2. Take Advantage of your School's Exercise Equipment and Facilities

Don't let one penny of that hefty tuition cost go to waste. Get your booty to the gym and remember, the work is worth it.

3. Find a Workout Buddy

I know I'm a lot more likely to work out or to push myself when I'm working out with someone else versus working out by myself. Create a workout schedule with your bestie and push each other to your best abilities.

4. Try to Eat Fruits AND Vegetables Every Day

I'm convinced that it's impossible to eat the suggested amount of vegetables everyday, at least 5 portions of 80g according to World Health Organization guidelines (whatever that means.) Maybe instead of that, alternate fruits and vegetables between meals- fruits with breakfast, veggies with lunch, and so on.

5. Make it a Goal to Workout At Least 3 Times a Week

Even if you can't find time to go to the gym take a break in-between homework and studying and do one of the thousands of workouts on Pinterest. They work!

6. Say No to Cream and Sugar

Caffeine is obviously a must somedays, but instead of loading your coffee with all that cream and sugar maybe try it black. If that seems like something that would never work for you, try switching to tea for a while and using natural sweeteners like honey or agave nectar. You might find that you like it just as much if not more!

We all have that inner fat girl inside of us that wants to be surrounded by an abundance of donuts and pizza at all times, but if you stay focused and follow these tips, you should be able to silence her desperate pleas for sweets long enough for spring break to roll around.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
