Campus is closed and you are stuck in your dorm with your roommates with nothing to do. First it was MLK Day with no school, then it was a snow day, then it is another snow day. It is fun at first to have no classes, but with the roads being dangerous, you start to go a little stir crazy with staying indoors. Here are seven ways to make snow days more bearable:

1. Snowball fight

Grab some friends and head outside. Pack up some snow and let the games begin! This is a chance to see who your friends really are. Build some forts or use your surroundings to shield you from other players. It is really fun if you can convince your whole dorm building to play.

2. Watch movies

Start a marathon with some friends. See what everyone is interested in and see if any choices suit everyone's fancy. Whether it is one series of movies or a bunch of different ones mashed together, it is sure to be a fun night.

3. Make hot chocolate

You can surprisingly find out things about your friends with how they take their hot chocolate. Whether it is with milk, water, whipped cream, cinnamon, marshmallows, etc. You never know how many different hot chocolate combinations there are until everyone is putting in their order.

4. Play board games

Let's see who is the sore loser and who surprisingly has a good poker face. Playing board games is another way to get to know your friends better. Hopefully, it doesn't end with friendships ruined.

5. Wrestle in the snow

The snow can slow a person down and give you a cushion if you fall. Have fun in the snow and try to take down the biggest person. It is all in good fun.

6. Host a homework party

Put off your work? Get your friends to help you stay focused. If you see other people doing work, then maybe you could get some done too. Put on music, get in your corner, and put out some snacks. It is homework time!

7. Sleep

Catch on those ZZZs that first week of classes robbed from you. Even though it is the beginning of the semester, you feel the burden of those classes already.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
