Thank you. Gracias. Merci. Grazi. These are just a couple of ways to say thank you when you feel appreciation. It's always nice to receive a thank you from a friend, parent or professor for doing something good, but it's even better to give thank yous to another person for doing something for you.
Here are seven other ways to show appreciation other than saying thank you.
1. Community service.
Community service is one great way to give back to your community and say thank you for giving everything to you. Clean up a park, work in the local food pantry or volunteer at the schools to show your community you care.
2. Perform random acts of kindness.
Random Acts of Kindness, or RAKs, are a great way to anonymously show a person how much you appreciate them. Doing something nice for someone without them knowing can make you and the other person feel good.
3. Share a meal with someone.
Sitting with someone for lunch or dinner and sharing the time with them shows the other person that you want to take the time to be around them.
4. Actively listen when someone talks.
When you listen to what a person is saying and seem interested, the other person will appreciate you, and you show the other person that you care about what they're saying.
5. Do someone a favor.
When someone asks you to do a favor, do it! Taking time to do something for someone else that helps them is a great way to say thank you.
6. Send thank you cards.
When your friends or family get you a nice gift, rather than just saying thank you, send them a handwritten card thanking them for the gift and how you'll use it. The time taken to write out the card will really show your appreciation.
7. Get a small gift.
A good way to thank someone is getting them a small gift that reminds you of them. It doesn't have to be big, just something that shows the person that they were on your mind and that you appreciate them.
