Fall is almost here and with it, cooler weather, colorful leaves, and pumpkin spice flavored everything. With all of this excitement comes numerous campus events that everyone should try at least once during their time at the University.

1. Tailgating

Whether it's for a Gopher Game or a Vikings Game, it is a big Minnesotan tradition to get together before games out in the parking lot to eat, listen to music, and enjoy the company of others. If you happen to be at a Gopher Game, you might even see some of the band running around playing in the parking lot!

2. Go To The State Fair

It's The Great Minnesota Get Together! And, you cannot miss getting some of Sweet Mama's cookies. Though not exactly on campus, there is a free shuttle to and from campus to go to the fair. Make sure to make time to go see the animals and art while you're filling up your re-fillable glass of milk and chowing down on your cheese curds.

3. Go To PAWS

Spend a few minutes petting away worried and stress with PAWS! Who doesn't enjoy petting soft cute animals that include dogs, cats, guinea pigs, and even chickens! This can help minimize that mid-semester stress, and help you to re-focus in the middle of long weeks.

4. Go To The Weisman Art Museum

Having the privilege of having an art museum on campus means you should use it. The WAM often updates their exhibits and because of that it's always a new experience to to and walk through it. Not only this but art carries cultural and historical importance so going to the WAM every now and then can help increase your awareness about issues facing the world today.

5. Movies/ Bowling/ Trivia in Coffman

Coffman is a hub of everything from food, to study spaces, to entertainment and games. Find some free time and take your friends there to enjoy a relaxing night away from the stress of everyday college life.

6. Go See A Performance At Northrop

One of the benefits of going to a liberal arts school is the amount of different art and performances brought to school. Much like The WAM, Northrop is always bringing in new and different shows. From ballets to leadership lectures you're sure to see something on the season schedule that interests you!

7. See A Flash Band On The Mall.

Though unannounced, the marching band does several flash band's in the fall often around 12 - 2 pm on Fridays. The unpredictable times can make this hard to do, but if you find a band member and befriend them you might be able to get a rough idea of the time one of these might occur.

The fall is a beautiful and busy time on campus. By doing some of these 7 things, you're sure to have more fun than your stressed out peers who aren't taking a little bit of time for fun this semester.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
