Although it varies campus to campus, college is generally a very diverse place: people of all backgrounds, faiths, and personalities come together to form a community of very different people. No matter where you are, there are a few types of students you'll definitely run into on a college campus.
1. Sleeping Beauty
There is always that one kid who sleeps through every single class, and not just the occasional I-was-up-till-5am-studying-let-me-close-my-eyes-for-ten-minutes-during-role-call kind of snooze. I mean, EVERY SINGLE CLASS WITHOUT FAIL. This kid leaves us wondering how on God's green earth they are passing life itself, let alone their classes. Like, what exactly do they do at night? Probably teach themselves what they missed in class, which begs the question, why not just take a few notes every now and then?...
What makes it even worse is when they STILL get better grades than everyone else.
2. The Procrastinator
You can spot this one a mile away (or maybe it's you). They're probably scrambling around lab to finish drying their samples five minutes before lab starts, or in the library with their eyes glued to the computer trying to finish a paper during the hour before class, flipping page after page through the textbook they didn't read. Maybe they can blame it on a busy schedule with sports and meetings, or maybe they're just lazy: regardless, their life motto is most likely "due tomorrow means do tomorrow."
3. The Kid Who Shamelessly Wears His Lanyard
This kid, most likely a freshman, (it's okay, we've all been there) can always be spotted donning his bright blue lanyard with the clear ID holder we all got at orientation. Whether it's to whip out at the dining hall or swipe into a res hall, that thing is ALWAYS hanging from their neck.
4. Smarty Pants
There is absolutely nothing wrong with being smart and caring about your grades, but this person feels the need to assert their intelligence at any chance they can possibly get. They're infamous for asking what you got on an exam just so they can throw their A in your face when you inevitably ask about theirs. They also probably respond with "I don't know" when you ask them about something you don't understand, even though you KNOW they're fully aware of the answer, they just can't be bothered to help you.
6. The Arguer
Shout out to that one person in every class that just HAS TO argue EVERY SINGLE THING the professor has to say. It's absolutely a great thing to ask questions in class and offer new ideas and points of view, that's how class discussions are generated. This person, however takes it to the extreme and usually just raises their hand because they haven't heard themselves talk in a few minutes. Like, no you definitely do not know every little thing about every little thing and you should probably just let the professor... you know...profess, since that's his/her job and they have been studying this stuff longer than you've been alive.
7. The Library Rat
There is always that kid that spends 75% of his day in the library. It's definitely not a bad thing to need a quiet place to study but THIS kid never leaves. They're there so much I wouldn't be surprised if they had a sleeping bag and pillow set up in one of the third floor study rooms for those long nights that they just can't leave.
