1. The Wonks
They. Are. Everywhere. AU tries to create various types of wonks but just like the campaign itself, it is a joke. You can see them flocking around to every single club meeting or carrying briefcases to class. They take elections for any position way too seriously by campaigning on social media a little too frequently and all over campus with chalk. You aren’t a real-life politician and this isn’t "House of Cards" so stop. They take being a wonk as a compliment but it is not. You will know them when you see them.
2. The Dav Rats
There is a rare species from the wild that love to flock to the Dav and they are known to scientists as the Dav Rats. They will sit for hours on end just drinking coffee and doing homework. They all manage to dress the same, and somehow speak in the same Dav lingo that no one else understands.
3. The Frat “Stars”
They clog up MGC in clumps all screaming random nonsense. They can be found searching for biddies (see #6), and are also usually trying to be athletic by tossing around a football or frisbee on the quad with their dogs. They like to dress “fratty” which means dressing half-preppy even though we know that they can’t pull it off. The ultimate d-bags.
4. The Athletes
They travel in packs. They follow the motto of strength in numbers. They are always in their electric-blue team apparel or athletic clothes with the matching backpacks, often appear as intimidating, and are very, very tall--and sometimes take all of the hamburgers in TDR.
5. BIDDIES
This lovely category speaks for itself. If you ever venture down to the quad on a weekend, you will find herds of freshmen girls in crop tops desperately trying to get rides to parties. They are the ones trying to become BFFs with all of the guys in frats but failing miserably. Embrace the Biddie life, it comes with the AU territory.
6. Radical Activists
American is known for being one of the most politically active campuses in the United States. This can be attributed to our friends the activists. Often seen with multi-colored felt patches adorning their backpacks and jackets, they stand up for what they believe in and hold protests on the quad. A lot. Love to hate 'em, but AU wouldn't be the same without them.
7. The people who wear cargo shorts

Never a good idea. The cargo embargo. This needs to happen. You are a college student, not a 40-year-old dad. And while we're on the topic, mandals are a no-go as well. Case closed, bring out the dancing lobsters.
