7 Types of Best Friends

We love you, sometimes we hate you, but most of all, we are you.

You either know them, hate them, or are them. Whether you're definitely the bitchy friend or a super hard-to-handle combo friend, every girl is, or knows, these type of best friends.

1. The Wild One

Most of the time, we love her. This is the best friend that is always, and I mean always, down to have a good time. She's pro-trouble. There is never a bad decision in her eyes, only a good story. Sometimes, we wish she wouldn't drink so much and leave her clothes on, but, like I said, we love her anyway.

2. The Sweet One

Okay, so if you're the sweet one, you probably know it. And, you probably resent it. You're the best friend that gets told to "shut the $@%! up" every time your bff asks you if her outfit looks good and you say "yes," because you actually think it does. You're the "I support whatever decision makes you happy" friend and we need friends like you. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

3. The Needy One

I have to admit, sometimes, I am this friend. I'm like a puppy; I'm happiest when I'm getting a lot of attention, especially from my girl friends. We, the needy friends, don't mean to annoy you, we simply seek reassurance... on just about everything. We work best when everyone is on our side. We are the friends that text you at 3am because we need advice. Don't hate us, just mute us. We understand.

4. The Brutally Honest One

Pretty self-explanatory. Ever heard the saying "hurt me with the truth, don't comfort me with a lie?" Yeah, well, she wrote it. And, she is not afraid to hurt your feelings, but only because she cares.

5. The Bitchy One

Guilty, again. This friend means well. I know because I tend to be one of them. We're very opinionated and boisterous, but not malicious. We're not out to get you. If you ask us what we think, we will be very honest, and you may not like it, but hey, you asked (also see The Brutally Honest One). Truth is, this friend has probably been hurt more times than they can count and now he/she has a "no bullshit" demeanor that never fails. If you break through that layer of sassy biotch, you will find the most loyal friend you have ever had.

6. The One Since Childhood

So, you are the childhood friend. Where would we be without you? You practically watched us grow up. Sometimes, we're lucky enough to stay close as adults, but, more often than not, life pulls us in different directions. "Adulting" changes people. People grow and change as their life grows and changes. We just want you to know that you'll always have a special place in our hearts. The best thing about drifting apart is being reunited.

7. The One That's Always There

This person is a first hand witness for almost everything that you do in life. At this point, they know too much about your life to ever not be friends with you. This is the one who walks into your house without so much as a knock on the door. They go to your mom's house just to hang out with her, and, most of the time, you're not even invited. This person goes through thick and thin with you. You tell this person everything and, no matter how crazy they think you are, they love you for who you are: their best friend. They have no idea how much they are appreciated, and we could truly not live without them.

I would like to dedicate this piece to seven very special women in my life. Upon recently getting engaged, they have agreed to be my bridesmaids, and they are in for quite the ride. I love you all and thank you for putting up with me.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
