I am a huge people person. I have no problem just walking up to someone and having a converstion with them over that super cute dad like shirt they are wearing. So coming to college and basically being told from day one that I had to make new friends—I was in extrovert heaven. This is the perfect time in life for people to step out of their comfort zones and try new things and meet new people. College is filled with a ton of new and very interesting people, so here are the seven types of friends everyone ends up meeting in college.
1. The guy that makes you pee from laughing
This is hands down my favorite person. No matter what day of the week it is this guy will always make you laugh. Yeah sure you probably never get any homework done together, and you wanna punch him about 86.7% of the time you hangout with him, but you keep him around because well... he's just the funny one in the group. (But not when he sends you clown photos.) You can always count on him if you need a good time. And yes he is most likely the friendzoned one in the group.
2. The one who helps you NOT make stupid decisions
Luckily this is my roommate—God bless her. She has stopped me so many times from buying unnecessary purchases online or extra food I did not need from Mejier. However I did buy shorts from Chubbies when she was not there... I'm sorry Liz. Find someone who keeps you in check, makes sure you don't spend to much money or stay up too late watching Parks and Rec on Netflix again for the fourth time.
3. The one who supports your stupid decisions
Back track to when I bought Chubbie shorts online that I did not need (I'm sorry mom, I promise they are cute). My friend Katie was there supporting me the whole time. She was also there when I ate a four course meal at the dining hall and when I thought it was a good idea to go and try and talk too a cute Dutch boy. (He was not vibbin' at all.) Although you do need a friend who stops you from doing dumb things from time to time, you also need that one friend that will push you outside your comfort zone just a little.
4. The dad/mom of the group
These people are the ones who, A: look, act, or talk like a dad/mom. Or B: They go 'mom' or 'dad" on you. They always ask if you need food or if you have drank enough water that day. These people are the friends who always know what to do when you are sick and or when you are slowly dying, because college does that to people sometimes. Everyone needs people like this because without them we would walk into parked cars while texting.
5. The best friend
I did not meet my best friend in college but in high school. We both go to different colleges now, 379 miles apart. Whether you meet you best friend in college, high school, or from that one time your moms put you in the bathtub together at a young age; you will always need them. They are the ones that you talk too throughout the day and the ones who check your location when you go out for the night to make sure you are okay. Having a best friend is something I hope everyone finds and holds onto for a long time. Because you never know, one day you might want to have Wine Wednesdays with someone. (By someone I mean your best friend not Patty from P.T.O.)
6. Your campus crush (or that REALLY cute boy that everyone likes)
This is definitely one of the hardest friendships to form, but not impossible. I am friends with the cute boys that every girl likes, but slacking in the campus crush department. For example, when I saw my campus crush last week in our school cafe, I completely missed my mouth while trying to eat Cheerios. It's super casual though. Not upset or anything. Anyways, being friends with these people is just fun. Mainly because you have good eye candy but also because most of the time they are really cool people. Just trust me, you want to be friends with them.
7. The squad
Last but not least the squad. Squad could either mean you and two other people or you and nine other people. Either way these are the people you pretty much do everything with. You eat 15+ meals a week with them, you "study" with them, and you adventure with them. These are the friends that think it's a great idea to walk around downtown during ArtPrize in heels for three hours because all of you were quote on quote feelin' yourselves. You take stupid photos with them and they are basically your whole snap story all the time. These are the people that make your college experience memorable and help the feeling of wanting to drop out and work on an Amish farm go away.
Friends make this world go round. Make sure you find the right ones.
