Everyone has his or her closest group of friends. Whether it be boys, girls, or a mix of both, there is usually a bunch of people you call your friends. But there is always one or two that stand out as your best friends. They are the people who you know the most and also feel the most comfortable around. They are there for you whenever you need them, no matter what it is. But when your best friend is a guy and you are a girl, you experience a different type of friendship. It's not necessarily a bad thing, but I've found that it certainly is different.
1. You can eat whatever you want and not feel bad because he’ll probably eat more than you.
Late night dinner dates and diner runs are always on the agenda. And no matter how much you think you’re eating, it really doesn’t matter, because he’ll eat twice as much and not stop for a second to judge you.
2. You always have someone to text.
In any situation, there’s always a go-to. Walking home from class, bored at home, you know they’ll be there for you ready to answer no matter what it is you need. Oh, and double texts are completely acceptable.
3. It's like having a second big brother.
No one messes with you, and if someone does, you know he’ll be there waiting to make them pay. He thinks of you as a sister and will always have your back.
4. He always gives his honest opinion—which can be a good thing or a bad thing.
No matter what the question is, he’ll be honest… whether you’d like to hear it or not. Sometimes, that’s a good thing because you get a guy’s perspective, and other times, it's just straight up insulting!
5. He helps you escape from girl drama.
Guys hate drama. So whenever there’s any annoying girly drama happening among your friends, you know you can escape it and hang with him. He brings much less drama into your life than any girl friend has or will.
6. Most people think you’re dating.
Literally everyone asks, “Is that your boyfriend?” GROSS. Just the thought of that makes you sick to your stomach. The friends that know you guys the best know to never even joke about the idea.
7. You don’t know where you would be without him.
The question I always get is: “Will we still be friends like this when we’re married?” My answer is always, “Of course. Because I can’t imagine a life without you.”
