7 Truths About Country Concert

The biggest country party in Ohio

7 Truths About Country Concert
Megan Warren

You've all heard of the three day, giant country music party that goes on in Ft. Loramie, Ohio every year. Thousands of people jam into one venue and listen to three days worth of big name country music stars rock out on stage and unlike any other concert venue you've ever heard of, they let you camp there for three nights and bring in your own coolers. If you thought country music was all about big trucks, beer, and girls then you were right but here's a list of the countless other things that you learn, encounter, and put up with at Country Concert (don't worry, I kept it to 7).

1. If you are claustrophobic, this is not the place for you.

I don't know the exact count on how many people were there but there were people covering the entire the area with their chairs, coolers, and friends. You'd get comfortable and then as soon as music started playing it was like the goldfish you see at the fish store, serious over crowding.

2. Your single friends might walk out of there with a new boyfriend and by the end of each night you'll have about 10 new friends.

Who are these guys? I have no idea but they were jamming out to Sam Hunt and Dierks Bentley with us so that's cool. Seriously, with all the alcohol being consumed, everyone is friendly and that makes the atmosphere of this place unlike any other.

3. Beads are a staple.

As much as I'd like to post a picture of this one, that would not be allowed. Just know, if you want beads, you have to earn them.

4. It's worth the money. Well worth the money.

This is only part of the lineup from this year. A general admission ticket purchased only a few days before the concert is roughly $250 and another $100 to camp. If you go only Thursday through Saturday you have the opportunity to see over 10 huge country artists. Do the math, that's pretty cheap if you figure out how much it costs per performer.

5. Drink. Drank. Drunk.

There are A LOT of people at this event. Every single one of those people is probably drinking. I mean, what would a country music festival be without beer drinkers. Even the performers were drinking on stage. Dustin Lynch was throwing beer all over the crowd. Cassadee Pope took a jello shot in the middle of her song. It was lit. It was like a giant college party. Alcohol, music, friends. It really couldn't get any better. But here's your warning for next year. Don't bring you kids and if you aren't cool with getting bumped into, covered in alcohol, and the party scene isn't your thing, maybe try the Kidz Bop concert instead.

6. There is plenty of food for you if you don't camp out and need a snack.

This year my friends and I commuted back and forth to a house nearby. We recruited a designated driver and had a place to sleep at night. However, we were kinda hungry because our bag of chips just didn't hold us over. They had burgers, chicken sandwiches, cheesecake on a stick, elephant ears, funnel cakes, french fries, everything. They had it all for when you got the munchies.

7. This was absolutely the best weekend of my life.

As far as vacations go, this was the best one I've ever been on. I reunited with my best friends for this weekend and nothing beats singing and dancing with them to music from some of the biggest names in country music. We caught up with old friends, friends we haven't seen all summer, and our new friends we made each night. It's safe to say we'll be going back and if you're considering it, you should too.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
