I think if you are a millennial female, or a male for that matter you probably grew up with Shania Twain on the radio. The music video for "Any Man Of Mine" in her crop top and mom jeans is the epitome of the 90's, as well as the video for "Man! I Feel Like A Woman!" There is something about her catchy songs, long dark hair, and seemingly perfectly tanned body that we love, and the world loves too. In the year 2017, we can still learn a lot about life from Shania.

1. Be confident.

In 2017, the idea of feminism seems to be taking the world by storm. In every single one of her songs, Shania preaches the idea of being confident in yourself, especially as a female. Everyone in this world is unique and has a kind of gift. There is no on else like you in this world! Be confident in who you are!

2. It's attractive to be smart.

Admit it, we've all done it. There's an attractive guy that you see in one of your classes and you seem to feel like you have to dumb down your intelligence to make them notice you. In 2010, Shania divorced her husband after she discovered he had been having an affair with her best friend. Instead of staying out of the limelight and feeling sorry for herself, as well as letting the event destroy who she was, Shania took back her career and is just as popular as ever. If you ever feel like you have to dumb yourself down to get someone's attention, remember that being smart is extremely attractive.

3. Keep your jeans high, and your standards even higher.

Isn't there some saying about the higher the hair the closer to God? How about you keep your waist on your jeans high and your standards higher? 2017 is about starting fresh, don't settle for anything less than what you deserve.

4. Nothing is impossible.

One of Shania's songs that didn't seem to be as popular was her song "Not Just A Pretty Face" that was released in 2002. In it, she describes all of the different jobs that women can do, like a geologist, a soldier or a surgeon. The song is a big statement that tells women they can do anything they want, and that anything is possible.

5. Embrace your long locks.

That might sound weird, but Shania is the queen of long dark hair. There's definitely something about having your hair down and letting the air blow it around when the windows are down. Life is about the little things!

6. Don't be easily impressed by any guy you come across.

"That Don't Impress Me Much" is pretty much a summary of what it's like to date anyone in college. I think I can speak for a lot of us when I say that you meet someone, get their number, and then in the back of your mind your already planning your wedding. In 2017, where we live in a world where social media can tell you one thing and actually getting to the know the person behind the cell phone is another. Don't settle for someone who seems appealing at first, get to know them better.

7. Don't be afraid to embrace who you are.

Even at 50, Shania can be seen wearing thigh high leather boots and outfits that are to some people of questionable length to someone her age. Shania knows who she is and isn't afraid to embrace who she is. In the midst of this era that emphasizes being who you are, Shania is a perfect example.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
