Living in the PNW, we constantly experience rain or cloudy weather pretty much every day of the year except for the three-ish months we have for summer. After all those late nights studying, drinking an immense amount of coffee, with rain pouring pretty much everyday, we finally reach summer after such an intense year. Surprisingly, the weather is pretty nice, which means our opportunities for activities expand as well. While some of these options you could definitely accomplish in rainy weather, summer is what we all look forward to.
1. Hiking.
I know we can do this anyway, since Washington has some amazing areas to hike anytime of the year, but when it's sunny and warm, the views get that much better.
2. Lake days every day.
I personally look forward to this every year since I unfortunately don't get to experience this any other season but summer. Plus, we all are pale during the rest of the months, so this is a perfect way to get a natural summer glow (that's right, let's take a break from spray tans ladies).
3. Ice cream, ice cream and more ice cream.
Nice weather calls for ice cream. Personally, I never let the weather stop me, but now with summer just right around the corner, I finally have a reason to go every day. A personal favorite of mine has to be Molly Moons, especially since they opened another location which is approximately 10 minutes away from me.
4. Festivals and concerts (especially the food).
Probably my favorite things to do in the summer. I don't know why there's a satisfaction with eating chocolate shiska-berries or fries in a paper carton, but that is the beauty of eating street food at a festival. Not only that, but listening to your favorite band in some grassy field is the cherry on top to a great summer day/night.
5. Bonfires.
Coming back from college is another reason to catch up with high school friends. With that being said, the first activity brought to the table are bonfires. What better way to catch up on the school year shenanigans with a bonfire, s'mores, and hot dogs?
6. The most incredible sunsets.
During the summer, the views are insane, especially in the Seattle area. It's super nice to end just a long day of activities by sitting on a grassy field watching the sun set or rise.
7. Sunny days at Pike Place.
If you're from Seattle, you've probably spent your entire time in the rain when you've visited Pike Place. However, during the summer, it's even better. Not only is the weather nice, but you constantly don't have to have a windbreaker hoodie/umbrella over your head as your dodging the mass amount of cars.
