As we are now a week into school and are starting to get back into the swing of things. There is many things that are unique to College Station, and some things that begin to annoy us. We take advantage of them and never think that we would miss them. But after being away from them so long, it makes us realize the true greatness of them!
Getting flyers handed to you in the MSC.
Oh you want me to join another organization and go to your philanthropy event? Yes, this can get so annoying (especially when you're in a hurry to class), but for some reason coming back I was actually excited to see so many people trying to get other people's attention. It's actually really entertaining! It also reminds you how incredible Texas A&M is and the hundreds of organizations it has to offer.
Standing the whole time at football games.
Okay. This is where you will feel the most exhausted, hot, and sweaty. When thinking about it, you remember how painful and tiring it can be; but it is something we wouldn't change for the world. There is something unique about fifty-thousand students coming together and standing for four hours at a football game in nice clothes and boots yelling on the top of their lungs. There's truly nothing like it.
5PM traffic on Texas/University/George Bush.
This time in College Station consists of bumper to bumper traffic, short-lived green lights, and lots of time that seems to be wasted. I forgot how nice it is to have some time to myself after a long day in class. It is a time you can jam out to music in the car with a friend, or just take some time to reflect on the day and on yourself. This time away from the craziness of all the other things going on is so nice.
The Rapping Professor.
There is so much hype and we sometimes feel that it gets overrated. The unnecessary numbers of Snapchat's that are made of him sometimes get old. But truly, seeing him on the corners and in academic plaza this week made my heart happy because of his passion for what he does. Plus, it is something so special and unique to A&M's campus life that is known to almost all. And it's always cool and brings you a good laugh!
Seeing a ton of people you know on campus and greeting them with a warm "Howdy!".
I know what you're thinking: "I love that!", but on the real, this can become a really distracting thing when you're rushing to get to class on time. And don't forget the times when you were in a rush and didn't get time to get ready and you see every single person you know. As we've gotten into the swing of things, it honestly is really comforting seeing so many people you know and haven't seen for so long!
College Station sunsets.
Yes, the sun is the same everywhere. But there is something so beautiful and special about the way the sunsets look here in CSTAT. The colors are radiant and vibrant like no other place. When we see them so often that we forget how great they are, so being back and seeing God's beauty in front of our eyes is just such a blessing.
Class.
I know what you're thinking, this was one of the hardest things to go back to. But the deep truth is, is that learning is actually really cool. We are so blessed here at A&M to have some of the most intelligent professors in the world and we are able to gain an education from the greatest university in the world!
The friendly, joyful, loving Aggies of College Station.
Just kidding, we all knew we were going to miss that.
The things of College Station are unique and unlike any other. Extraordinary things that we don't realize how lucky we are to have them until the are absent from our lives! Thank you CSTAT for being the best ever college town, thanks and gig 'em.
