College is pretty great, but around the first week of December things tend to get a little crazy. December means that finals are near, groceries run out and meal points are already depleted. Not to mention, stress is high and bank accounts are at an all-time low, which can only mean one thing: it's time to go home. Going home is amazing, but after being away from school for a couple days there are a few things you'll miss:

1. Being surrounded by friends

College is crazy because you are literally surrounded by people your age. It's like someone just took high school and subtracted parents. Having roommates is especially great because there is usually someone around that can relate to what you are going through. Every single night in college is a sleepover; which is awesome.

2. Starting the night at 10

At school the fun doesn't usually start until about 10 p.m., and by fun I mean eating dinner, writing papers or going out. Home life means earlier and calmer nights. I usually find myself getting in bed at home without being the least bit tired.

3. Eating on your own time schedule

You wait for no one in college. Breakfast can be at noon, lunch can be at 2 and dinner can be a frozen pizza at midnight. While home-cooked meals are amazing, it is nice to eat leftover birthday cake when nobody is looking and have it classify as breakfast.

4. Naps

College is all about looking for 15-minute open windows for napping. A nap can come at the most random moments or it can be planned out. Basically, there is no bad time for a nap in college; at home there is a bit of judgement involved in an 11 a.m. nap.

5. Being walking distance from basically everything

College is nice because almost everything you need is within walking distance from where you live. Being at home often requires a decent amount of driving. Most campuses have a gym, places to eat and quiet areas to relax and enjoy a cup of coffee.

6. Being in a routine

It is fairly easy to get in a routine while at school. Getting thrown out of your element can be stressful and make you feel unproductive. Being at school may be more chaotic, but it is consistent.

7. Having your own space

Having your own space, or even a shared space in college is nice because nobody demands that you clean your room. Nobody yells at you for having "the chair" (the chair every girl has that is used to throw clothes on), or for leaving shoes all over the floor. Being messy is a trait that some simply cannot control!

Home is amazing but being at school definitely has some perks.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
