You decide that it is time that you post a picture on Instagram, so you scroll through you camera roll to find that "Insta worthy" picture, then you find that flawless filter to complement your brilliant caption. Our generation posts pictures on this social media platform to demonstrate to others our lives through pictures. Whether you post once a year or once a day, we all can relate to these specific steps that we take when posting a picture on Instagram:
1. Picking the perfect pic.
Whether you have a specific picture in mind, or you're very indecisive (like myself) you scroll through your camera roll to find that picture you like the most. At this stage, you decide whether or not you should post a picture of yourself, with your friends, of your food, or of somewhere pretty that you went that day. After juggling your options, the overall winner will be the one that you think will get the most amount of likes (as much as you hate to admit it).
2. Editing time.
"Lo-fi makes me look tan, but Slumber looks pretty cool and vintage. Whatever, I'll just stick to Clarendon." During this stage, you decide which app (or apps) that you'll use to edit your picture. The goal of this step is to make the edited picture look better than the original (even if it ends up looking nothing like the original).
3. The caption.

4. Choosing the prime time to post.
Choosing the optimal time to post your perfect picture is key to achieving the most amount of views (more views = more likes). We all wait around till the time comes to post to improve our minute-to-like ratio.
5. Posting and refreshing.
You hold your breath until the picture is posted and once it's up, you refresh your notifications about every five seconds. Regret begins to settle in once you realized you haven't gotten as many likes as you thought you would in that first hour since it posted. And you begin to wonder why you wasted so much time on deciding what filter to use when you should've focused on a better caption.6. Reaching your "likes" goal.
Once you achieve your goal of the amount of likes on your picture, you can finally breathe a sigh of relief. At this step, the hand that is glued to your phone can finally rest and you can actually do something productive with your time. And repeat.
