1. "I never came to the beach or stood by the ocean/I never sat by the shore under the sun with my feet in the sand" (Malibu, Miley Cyrus)

If you study music in college, you already know that there is no such thing as free time. All of our time outside of class is spent either practicing or trying to muddle our way through theory homework. Although we all wish we could go to the beach one weekend, there is never enough time!

2. "Thought we can do better than that/I hope we can" (Chained to the Rhythm, Katy Perry)

Literally, everyone's first thought when they get the first music theory homework/quiz of the semester back. The music theory sequence (AKA at least four semesters of misery) is the bane of our existence.

3. "Baby, I think about you/And I feel it, deep in my heart" (No Promises, Cheat Codes feat. Demi Lovato)

This is what goes through our heads after a day of surfing the web looking at all the nice music things we would like to buy. Unfortunately, we never seem to have enough money to actually buy anything. All we can do is daydream about buying that new instrument for now.

4. "And until then I'll smile to hide the truth/But I know I was happier with you" (Happier, Ed Sheeran)

The unfortunate moment when we run out of coffee and don't have time to run to Starbucks before class. Coffee will always hold the number one spot in our hearts, so prepare for us to look like zombies until we get coffee again. We will always be happier with coffee than without!

5. "It ain't me" (It Ain't Me, Kygo feat. Selena Gomez)

Everyone's reaction to your instrument professor asking who wants to play first in studio class. Playing by yourself in front of your peers and lesson teacher is scary, especially if you're a new student!

6. "'Cause I got issues/But you got 'em too/So give 'em all to me/And I'll give mine to you" (Issues, Julia Michaels)

Just about everybody has trouble with something, so it's great when you find someone you connect with to share your problems with. It doesn't always have to be another student, a lot of faculty are willing to talk with you and build a relationship while also helping you out! Friendships are what will keep you going on the days when you don't think you can anymore.

7. "All you have to do is stay a minute/Just take your time" (Stay, Zedd & Alessia Cara)

What every music student has to tell themselves when they really want to stop practicing, but they can't. It's hard to keep going some days, because there's just SO MUCH to do. There is always room for improvement, and more music to learn. Lessons, Juries, Recitals, Oh My!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
