Being a college freshman is very similar to being a toddler. Don't believe me? Think again.

1. You are always learning.

Just like many toddlers entering preschool and kindergarten, college freshmen are entering a new educational period in their lives. They are being taught not only new information regarding academics but also how to live alone or with a new person, how to do laundry, and how to make and manage money.

2. Even the smallest amounts of money make you feel rich.

Any toddler I have ever known does share a common quality with most college students: The excitement of money. Just like toddlers, college students appreciate any amount of money. Find $2 in the washer? You are now rich!

3. You are trusted with almost nothing.

Being a college freshman is a hard transition. You go from being at the top of the totem pole as a senior in high school right back down to the bottom. You are in a new environment with new people, most of which older and more experienced than you. In this setting, similar to that of a toddler just learning to walk, you aren't given much responsibility. You are taken places with leaders and adults when you first arrive. They are constantly checking in on you, and you are under a close eye.

4. Games are a big part of your time.

I never thought that I would play so many games in college, yet I find myself learning new ones all the time. There are endless amounts of games my friends and I have played ranging from the actual toddler level with games such as Crazy 8s and Uno to adult style games like Cards Against Humanity. Games time always seems to give us a break from actual college things like studying and homework but somehow it always makes me feel like a toddler. Our games always end up in some discussion (or might I say argument) about the rules and points, but it always is a great time.

5. Arts and crafts are always happening.

When I imagined college, I definitely did not expect to be a part of a "craft circle". No, I do not mean an actual craft circle, but my group of friends is close enough. While some are crocheting, sewing, painting or making some random craft, I can't help but think of us as in some sort of daycare or preschool. It seems as though it's not a hallway function until someone brings out the Modge Podge.

6. You dress however you want to.

If you have ever seen a toddler try to dress, or a college student in its natural habitat, you would know that they are all too similar. Toddlers dress in mismatched clothes, possibly with stains. Toddlers also really don't have the slightest care as to what others think of what they are wearing. Toddlers can be found sporting a princess or a pirates costume in public on a random Tuesday for no reason at all. College attire is all in the same. No we don't wear full on costumes for no reason, well for the most part, but I can say that I have worn some odd things in my first year of school. Character onesies, shark hats, crocs with character charms, and a blanket as a scarf, you name it I have probably worn it at some time in the last 8 months. In the end, at least it is a laugh, right?

7. Chicken nuggets reign supreme.

College food may not be the best food around, but there is one food that can make all of campus crowd into the cafeteria: The almighty chicken nugget. I don't know what it is about chicken nuggets, but they seem to make both college students and toddlers alike go crazy. Chicken nugget day is a big day in the cafeteria, and I am sure it always will be.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
