The holidays can often be associated with snow, heavy coats, and sitting by the fire, but this is not the case in Florida. It tends to stay consistently hot throughout December, so you get used to different holiday traditions that do not include skiing, ice skating outside, or sledding. Here are seven things that indicate you spent your holiday in the Sunshine State.
1. You went to see Christmas lights at a theme park.
Driving around neighborhoods to see awesome lights? Sure, but chances are, you also visited Busch Gardens, Universal, or Disney World to experience some spectacular lights as well.
2. A lot of your holiday break consisted of going to the beach.
The sand is your snow, and you spent hours soaking up the sun and walking around in Florida’s unique “Winter Wonderland.”
3. You may have attempted to make a sand snowman.
You can’t help feeling a little left out when everyone else makes a snowman out of snow, so you tried to mold one out of sand. Instead of putting a scarf on it, you maybe added a Hawaiian shirt, a hat, and some sunglasses.
4. You put Christmas lights on your palm trees.
You have so many palm trees in your yard that you felt the need to give them a little Christmas decoration.
5. You went to a Christmas light boat parade.
Rather than going to a Christmas street parade, you went to the docks to watch people’s heavily decked out boats float by.
6. It was no surprise when it was 80 degrees on Christmas day.
While other states woke up on Christmas day having to bundle up to go outside, you rolled out of bed and put on a t-shirt, shorts, and flip-flops. Some years you may have to put on the occasional jacket, but not this year.
7. You got a bathing suit for a present.
Forget receiving sweaters, mittens, or wool socks for gifts; you got a brand new bathing suit to go in the pool or beach with.
Even though you may feel like you're missing out on the cold weather during the holidays and the constant heat gets tiring, you have to admit that it’s pretty nice to enjoy summer activities during December. Plus, you can travel to a colder state for some snow, and you always have Florida to fall back on when you don’t want to have to put on a heavy coat anymore.
