We all have one person who is responsible for the person we are today. These people have introduced us to newer and better things. My best friend is one of the most unique people I know. He's always been around and never seems to get tired of me. Whether you've been friends for 5 years or 5 months, length can't define a friendship. Here are 7 reasons why my best friend is my best friend:
1. I can tell you anything and everything.
This is the best part about having a best friend. You can always share anything without the fear of being judged. I never have to hide anything from you and when I try, you know what's up. Being a good listener is such an important part of having close friends with someone. Sometimes if they're anything like me, they have a lot to say and it's important to not be judgmental so your friends always feel like they can trust you.
2. You have seen me at my best and at my worst.
In any friendship, you'll see high points and low points. As my friend, you have seen me struggle with my faith, social life, school, sports, you name it you've seen me struggle. But with struggle, theres always high points. You've seen those too. You're always there to help me see the light at the end of the tunnel. You've taught me how to give my struggles to God and you're always my number one fan, supporting me in everything I do.
3. You genuinely care.
A lot of times just to pass the conversation along people will ask "how are you?" "how's your mom?". But, whenever I have a conversation with you, I can feel the sincerity in your voice when you ask about me and my family and what's going on in the world of Al. Genuine people are so hard to come across and I'm so glad I found one to keep.
4. You always give the best advice.
As you and I both know, sometimes I don't always make the best choices or sometimes I'm just really having a tough time making a decision. Whatever the situation is, you can always give me killer advice that almost always solves my problems. I can always count on you when there's been a rough patch and I need someone who's not gonna judge me.
5. You're never afraid to tell me when I'm being dumb.
There have been several circumstances when I have wanted to do something or say something to someone and you just catch me and tell me how horribly stupid it is. It's funny to look back on the things you've saved me from. I'm glad I can always count on you for all kids of support in all these different aspects of my life.
6. You've opened me up to newer and better things.
This is my favorite reason. Because of you, I've changed my entire life. You're the first one to introduce me fully to the Salesians. You were the first person to sort-of tell me what an LR was without spoiling it for me because you knew I'd get picked when the time was right. You've without a doubt changed my life because of this. Not to mention, you also forced me to face my fears by riding all the scary roller coasters at Busch Gardens!
7. No matter how far apart, I know I'll never lose you.
Last but certainly not least, you're here to stay. A couple weeks ago I had sent you a text asking you if we'd still be friends when we moved away from each other (WHICH IS COMING SOON BTW) and you had told me you would never not want to be friends with me. Little did you know how much I was freaking out that day because I was so afraid of what was gonna happen when we go to our destinations. I've become so accustomed to just shooting you a text to come have lunch with me or something of that nature and soon, that won't be a thing anymore. But, never fear some fires never die. And this my friend is our fire.
