When something monumental happens, like someone cute talking to you or getting a good grade on you test, who do you call first? Your mom, or your best friend? Well, what if they're the same person? Moms are role models and caregivers, but if you're lucky, your mom can also be your best friend. Here are some reasons why:
1. She has seen you at your worst
Moms are the people we go to when we have nowhere else to turn. Whether it's a bad breakup or a fight with friends, moms are always there to hand you a fresh box of tissues, buy you some cookie dough, and in the end, make you feel so much better.
2. And knows when you're at your best
A mom can always tell when their kid is looking good and feeling better. Any difference in mood makes the mom-radar go crazy, and she's always very excited to tell you when she notices that you seem happier and healthier.
3. You can talk to her about everything
Moms are a no judgment zone. They have been through pretty much everything you've experienced in life, so nothing you want to tell them is off limits. While some people do try to have a little bit of a filter when talking to their mother, for obvious reasons, moms are always accepting of whatever you have to say. No matter how strange it may be.
4. She will do anything for you
Staying strong when she feels like breaking, buying you whatever you need before even thinking about getting anything for herself, standing up for you whenever you need it, or even deciding to eat at your favorite restaurant even though she hates it are just a few of the common actions moms take daily.
5. Everyday errands turn into lifelong memories
You will always remember all of the trips to the mall you took with your mom that consisted of trying on countless clothes at Forever 21 and American Eagle, getting seriously "hangry" before deciding to stop shopping for a bit in order to eat, staying out way too late, and spending way too much money. Even a trip to the grocery store can be an adventure when it's with your best friend.
6. She always knows the right things to say
Having already survived her young-adult years, she consistently has the best advice to give you. Whether it's to get over that boy, to not take drinks from strangers, to always be kind, or just not to wear too much makeup, moms have an infinite amount of things to say no matter what situation you're in. And, you may not want to admit it now, but she's pretty much always right.
7. And last but not least, she will love you no matter what
It is sometimes too easy to get mad at or frustrated with your mom. Words are said, doors are slammed, and eyes are rolled over something as silly as what you want for breakfast. But through all the sass given out and the shade thrown, you know you can always count on her, to be not only your mom but to be your best friend too.
