As a Freshman at College of Coastal Georgia, I have noticed that so many people hate on our school for reasons I can't understand. This school has made a huge impact on me and I can't help but love it. There's obviously more than 7 reasons why you should go to CCGA, but this can potentially help anyone who's on the fence about going here. I love this school, this city, these beaches and all I can say is "Go Mariners!".
1. THE CAMPUS
So let's just take a minute and talk about the beauty of this school's campus. Its small, Its beautiful, Its just perfect. The campus is small enough to walk from building to building. There's no need for bikes, buses or anything other than your feet! The Classrooms are nice, the professors are nice and the majors are even better. I mean what else could you ask for when it comes to college?
2. THE BEACH
This is usually the reason why most people come here. Yes, we have two islands right by us. The drives aren't bad either. A 15-minute drive to the beach? Count me in. This is a huge reason for why I have all morning classes. Getting out at noon means spending the rest of my day at the beach.
3. SMALL CLASS SIZES
Having small classes benefits you so much. You really get to know your professors and your classmates. These relationships you create with them can help further your career in the long-run. In my opinion, smaller class sizes are better and help you learn better. Big class sizes freak me out & If they freak you out to, CCGA might be a good choice for you.
4. FREE TUTORING ON CAMPUS
Yes, I just said FREE. The free tutoring that is available on campus is great and especially when you have a SI (Supplemental Instructor) in your class. They have certain times you can meet and get help from them and usually meet up right before your test to go over everything. College is the best time to take advantage of free things, so make sure you take advantage of the free tutoring!
5. BEING SUPER CLOSE TO TWO BIG CITIES
This school is located right in the middle of Savannah, Ga and Jacksonville, Fl. As a freshman, this location has helped me make some really great friendships and be able to go on adventurous road trips. Being a college student, you need to take advantage of the fun things you're able to do. So if one of your friends says "Hey lets go to Jacksonville!" Just know you're up for an adventure!
6. ALL OF THE FREE STUFF
Being a student at CCGA means you get free stuff sometimes. Free t-shirts, Free pens, Free bags, Lanyards, the list goes on and on. The best free thing I've gotten all year is my Jekyll Island pass. If you're a full-time student at CCGA, you're able to get a Jekyll Island pass that lets you into the island! So make sure you read your student email, or head to the Jekyll Island Center to get your card.
7. LATE NIGHT BREAKFAST
During finals week, the galley hosts a "Late Night Breakfast" from 10pm-12am. This event serves breakfast food and also has multiple games and contests going on. It's a great event to go to especially with your friends or roommates. What better way to get a break from studying!
