I’m extremely lucky to say I’ve grown up with a very close and loving family. Family events are always a good time because there’s nothing I love more than seeing my grandparents, aunts, uncles, and (my favorite) my cousins. Ever since I was a little kid, my cousins were always my favorite people to be around. We all knew we were family by blood but since day 1, we chose to be best friends. And its been that way since I first began to walk and it’s still that way as I enter my second year of college. They’ve become the ones I can turn to for anything at anytime. Without them, I wouldn’t have grown up to be the person that I am today. Here are 7 reasons why I’m thankful for my cousins.
1. They always have my back
We may not live in the same town, but that doesn’t mean they don’t look out for me. Anytime I vent to them about my problems, they give me the advice that I need to hear and always make sure they do whatever they can to help me out.
2. They're hilarious
My cousins have a way of making me laugh in a way nobody else can. I think it has to do with the fact that we’re all so comfortable with each other that we’ll do anything to make each other smile.
3. They're trustworthy
Some of your worst looking baby pictures will be taken with your cousins by your side. Butt naked baby pictures, middle school Abercrombie and Fitch days, and ugly snapchat blackmail. Whatever the photos may be, your cousins promise to never share them as long as you don’t either.
4. They make the best vacation buddy
Vacationing with your parents and siblings is fun but nothing’s better than when your cousins tag along. They always keep you occupied and will be just as eager to take pictures as you are!
5. They're honest
Let’s face it, your cousins tell you how it is. If you’re not sure how your outfit is looking or whether or not you should Instagram a certain photo, your cousins will be the first ones to tell you the honest truth.
6. They're people you can brag about
I’m not sure if this is just me with my cousins, but they’ve always been better looking than me (by far). This is something I embrace. I have no shame bragging about how perfect my cousins are. I’ll do it now and forever.
7. They're a forever best friend
My cousins are the best friends that I’ll never lose. No matter how much we fight, they’ll always be my best friends and it will always stay that way. No distance, short or far, could separate the bond that my cousins and I share. They’re my forever best friends.
