Growing up in the Bay means that you have so many different places and people around you. It is a place where I feel fortunate to grow up because of the many different people and opportunities I have been introduced to.
Here are a few reasons why I think growing up in the Bay was the best.
1. Location
The Bay Area is in an amazing location. From the beautiful beaches in SF to the lakes in Morgan Hill, and all the beautiful hiking spots in between. The Bay has something for everyone, of all ages, and by driving less than an hour in any direction you can explore something new and amazing that you did not even know existed.
2. Sports
Growing up in the Bay we are spoiled with the sports teams. We got hockey, baseball, soccer, basketball, and football. From the Hp Pavillion (now SAP Center), Candlestick (now Levi's Staidum), AT&T Park, O.co Coliseum, Avaya Stadium, and the Oracle Arena — there are many places to go to catch a game. Not to mention the Bay definitely dominates in more than half of those sports, so its always a good time when going to a game. Our fans are probably some of the best you'll ever find.
3. Music
The music should speak for itself. Since the Bay is such a big place, so many different artists come that you're guaranteed to see one of your favorites at least once in your lifetime. With artists like Mac Dre coming straight from the Bay, everyone here knows how to "get stupid" and you're guaranteed a great time full of dancing and great songs whenever you go out. Which definitely sucks when you leave the Bay, because not many other people can "get hyphy" like we do.
4. Education
The Bay is home to some of the best high schools in the nation. With so many great college preparatory schools you get a special education experience like no other. Speaking of colleges, the Bay is home to some great colleges such as UCSF, Stanford, Cal, Santa Clara... the list goes on and on. The colleges in our area are guaranteed to help you prosper further in life, with great connections to the outside world, and companies located in the area!
5. Weather
I could not think of a better place to live, where roughly 300 out of 365 days are all sunny. Even on days when it is not sunny, there is rain, but the average low temperature rarely goes anywhere below 45 degrees. Who would not want to have been raised in a place where, on most days of the year, you can take in the beauty of the area without extreme heat or extreme cold.
6. People
With a huge population of 7.15 million people in the Bay, you are bound to find some people who differ from you, but who also share a lot of the same qualities as you. In my opinion, the people here are extremely nice and friendly, and it is so easy to connect with and bond with many people in the area. It makes for a great social scene and a great place to raise a family because of how accepting and open all the people are. On top of that, there are so many people from many different backgrounds that it is so easy to learn about another culture and immerse yourself into something new.
7. Food
With so many different type of people in the Bay Area, that means so many different types of food options. From Chinese to Italian you can have it all in the Bay. There are also so many small family owned and operated restaurants, that you are bound to find something you like. Most of the whole in the wall places you find are probably going to be some of the best food that you have ever tasted! In saying that, most of them are only located in the Bay, so when you leave, you always have to come back for more.
With all these things in mind, those native to the Bay can proudly say that this is truly the best place to live. Their upbringings offer a unique lens that no other place can offer.
