College life is great. Between classes, friends, clubs, and a social life, there is never a dull moment. But sometimes we all need a break, and going home for a few days is totally necessary. Of all the countless benefits of a weekend at home, seven reasons stand out.
1. Laundry
You have been putting it off for weeks and things are starting to get smelly. Your floor looks like your closet threw up, and your room is a total disaster. Fear not, for you can simply drag it all home and use your charm and a pair of puppy dog eyes to get your mom or dad to help you out.
2. Homemade Food
A person can only eat cafeteria food or frozen dinners for so long. Eventually you get fed up of choking down the same boring meals day in and day out. Coming home and enjoying a homemade meal with the family feels like heaven on earth.
3. Our Pets
Nothing compares to walking into your house and being greeted with sloppy kisses from your tail-wagging friend. Sure, your family is happy to see you, but are they really more excited than your pet? Going home just to see your animal companion is more than enough of an excuse.
4. Hometown Friends
You don't get a chance to see all your friends at school, but going home the same weekend as your friends allows you some time to catch up and hang out. Nothing beats spending time with old pals.
5. Your Own Bed
Your dorm bed is okay, but it pales in comparison to your own bed in your own home. Nodding off to sleep in your own bed is a dream come true (pun intended).
6. Money
College is expensive. You're spending money like there's no tomorrow, and before you know it you're staring at an empty wallet. If you play your cards right you might be able to coax your parents into giving you a dollar or two.
7. Family
The main reason you go home is to see your family. You call and text when you can, but its just not the same. Coming home to get a hug from your mom and dad is all you really want. You missed them just as much as they missed you.
