We're almost there, folks! Fall semester is dwindling away, which means we are fast-approaching Thanksgiving Day. After all of the hard work we have put into this semester, it is about time we get about a week off. Thanksgiving break allows us to relax, rejuvenate and recollect before we delve into the hell of finals. Here are 10 more reasons why college students are thankful for Thanksgiving break:
1. Sleep.
Ahh yes, sleep. College is full of late nights, early mornings and is an all around sleep deprived lifestyle. Therefore when college students are home, we tend to hibernate. Nothing beats sleeping in your own bed! Especially when you do not have to set an alarm for the next morning.
2. Showering without shoes.
There's no telling how often college students shower. But when we do, we have to wear shoes. Unless, of course, you live off-campus. But for those of us who have to brave the communal showers in the residence halls, showering without shoes is a luxury. It is almost an alien feeling though, as you become so accustomed to wearing shoes in the shower. But is certainly a riveting feeling at that.
3. Taking home laundry.
As college students, we are too busy to do laundry! Or at least that is what we would like to think. In reality we are just too lazy. So why not take it home to mom and dad? They will do it... right?
4. Reuniting with pet(s).
Rarely do we interact with animals on campus. If we do, it is typically with squirrels. Coming home to your favorite pet (in my case, a dog) is always a lovely treat. They are our cuddle buddies all break long!
5. Home cooked meals.
Especially this time of year, I think we are all thankful for home cooked meals. Finally for once we can enjoy food that is not from our nearest dining hall. We can allow ourselves to give thanks and thankfully feast on the homemade dishes by our friends and family. Who cares about stuffing your face when it's the holiday season?
6. Seeing friends from high school.
Reunited and it feels so good! Coming back home and sharing crazy college stories with your high school friends is always a grand experience. These are the people who we grew up with. Who saw us at our ugliest and grossest middle school phases, and they still love us. We are thankful to be able to have them to come back to when we are away from school.
7. Being with family during the holiday.
No matter how much we complain about getting asked mass amounts of questions by our family, I think deep down, we know they care. Thanksgiving is a time for being thankful, and I am thankful my family is interested to know how things are going for me at college. I am so glad I get to go home this break and spend time with them.
In short, there is a lot we college students shall be thankful for this holiday season. From one college student to another, I hope you enjoy your time off!
