It's so easy to just do your own thing in college, but if you do this, it's also likely you'll feel lost in the mix.
Whether it's a club, organization, school magazine or student activities committee, I encourage you to get involved during your collegiate career.
Here's 7 Reasons to get involved in College:
1. You get to experiment with different skills. Whether you're the president of a club, the secretary or an active member, you can see what kinds of passions and strengths you have.
2. You meet some pretty cool people that will likely become long-lasting friends.
3. You have the opportunity to broaden your outlook. There's nothing like meeting different people with all kinds of different backgrounds for learning and shaping your life.
4. You receive more recognition for your academic successes. When you're working closely with faculty, staff and other students, your hard work and leadership will be noticed.
5. You get to make the most out of your college years. No, I'm not talking about the typical "college experience," rather, working for a common goal with like-minded individuals truly gives you the most rewarding experience possible.
6. It gives you a competitive edge on your peers. Interviewing for your first job? What better way to show your fantastic leadership skills than describing an event you organized or a service project you undertook?
7. You'll make some pretty great memories! If you're basically going through the same schedule everyday, life will start to seem monotonous. It's when we switch things up a little, add some fun, some academia, some leadership and a great cause, and you'll never forget the impact you were able to have on your campus.
