7 Reasons Doing Your Laundry In College Is The Worst

Spending two hours on something is a lifetime in college years.

Once a week, I do my laundry in-between my classes and I can honestly say it is the worst two hours of my week. At first, I enjoyed the little break doing my laundry would give me, but over the year and a half I've been in college it is becoming exactly what it is: a chore. Here are seven reasons that doing laundry in college is the absolute worst.

1. It is inconvenient

Who really has two or more hours to block out for laundry? Between homework, classes and socializing, two hours is a lifetime.

2. Carrying your laundry to the laundry room

Maybe I am just weak but I always break into a little sweat lugging my laundry down the hall to the laundry room. I should probably just do my laundry more often but once again, who really has time for that?

3. Finding a washer and dryer

Either every single washer and dryer is being used by someone else or half of them are broken and can't be used. It literally feels like The Hunger Games sometimes when trying to get your laundry done. I have had to wait in the room for over 10 minutes just to get a dryer because I knew that if I left the room, it would be taken by the time I got back.

4. The machines

More likely than not, your laundry machines have not been updated since the building was built however many years ago. This causes them to break or not even really wash your clothes. Sometimes I take my laundry out and it just doesn't feel clean which kinda defeats the purpose of doing laundry.

5. The weird odor

Going along with the machines being ridiculously old, they always seem to develop a strange odor about halfway through the semester. You pretend you don't notice it but it actually makes you pretty nervous because... what could possibly making that smell?!?

6. Carrying your laundry back to your room

Going along with number two, carrying it back is somehow worse since you're technically done with laundry but not really. At least the clothes are warm and nothing is better than warm laundry!

7. Putting your clothes away

If you're like me, you are so done with the whole process of doing laundry that you just shove your clothes into drawers and try to forget about the scarring experience that is laundry. Only one more week until you have to do it again!

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
