7 Reasons You Should Be At Breakaway

What are you doing Tuesday night?

7 Reasons You Should Be At Breakaway
Breakaway Ministries

Thousands of college students together worshipping one God. My hands trembled and goosebumps formed as I heard all these voices come together to glorify HIM forever. Breakaway Ministries has helped God to move here in College Station, and they aren't stopping anytime soon. And there was no better place to start it off this semester than on our beloved Kyle Field. Here's some reasons that Breakaway is one of the best parts of Texas A&M and why it is where every Ag should be at 9 p.m. every Tuesday night.

1. They are welcoming and inviting.

At every entrance door there are greeters with a warm "Howdy!" welcoming you to Breakaway. They are enthusiastic and truly happy that you are there. It makes you feel special and puts a smile on your face. I always know that I am meant to be there and you can see Christ working through them to help serve His kingdom. Even in the stresses of college, that joy of invitation makes you feel so much more at ease. The Breakaway Volunteers are the real deal!

2. You can hang out with your friends AND praise Jesus!

Nobody likes going to these types of things by themselves. Get a group together, get there early to get a good seat, and then you can catch up with friends why you wait for it to start. Plus, there is always a hand to hold during prayer. Invite someone that may not know God very well, it could change their life! Breakaway is the best hang out spot. Afterwards, you and your friends can hit up Gumby's and talk about the message and how it relates to your life (it always does) and really see each other in a deeper way.

3. The MUSIC. Um, have you heard Jeff and Jourdan Johnson??

The live worship is absolutely breathtaking. The Jeff Johnson Band is truly phenomenal, and you will be overtaken by God's love as you feel Him move through the rhythms of the music. Jeff and Jourdan's voices work perfectly together and the lyrics of these songs hold the promises that the Lord has for us through the good times and the bad. This time is intimate between you and God, a time where you feel closest to him. You feel it is just you two in the middle of a crowded room, the way it tugs your heart strings is unexplainable. This worship is something everyone should experience.

4. The message somehow always is exactly what you need to hear.

It's weird how God works that way, but for real every message that Ben Stuart says hits home with me. It's sometimes things you thought you would never relate to, and they somehow are exactly what you need to hear in your life at that time. I constantly sit and pray at the end of the message telling God, "I don't know how, but you rocked my world once again..." Especially the series that he is doing this semester on dating, it's pretty much exactly what every college student needs to hear, so definitely check that out!

5. It helps you grow in your relationship with God.

College is tough. Everyone can relate to that. Through this stressful yet exciting time in our lives having a strong relationship with God is of utter importance. It makes us whole inside because God is truly the only person who can fulfill us! The coolest thing about Him is that you are constantly learning something new about God that you've never known before. Learning these new things and hearing the promises and love he has committed to us makes you stronger as a Christian and as a person.

6. You get to worship our amazing Father with thousands of other Aggies.

"We are the Aggies, the Aggies are we" is a phrase you often hear, and at Breakaway you are together with your Aggie brothers and sisters in Christ all as one worshiping the same God. The feeling of hearing thousands of other voices around you all singing out the same praises is something that is unfathomable and I can't even think to put into words. I feel closer to my fellow Aggies as a family and we are so lucky to have a place so great with so many people that have a HUGE love for Christ!

7. It is the perfect getaway from school, and life in general.

We are constantly busy, stressed, trying to get everything done, and trying to keep a social life, but for two hours each week, you can completely let go of all of your responsibilities, all of your worries, all of your messes, and just rest in the presence of Jesus. A time to relax and focus all of your mind and soul on God and dedicate two hours of your hectic schedule to praising Him. Breakaway can get you in the right mindset to take on the challenges that life throws at you and take it by storm. I promise it's worth it!

Breakaway has fulfilled my college career thus far, and I know it will continue to do so. If you've never been, don't be afraid to come, you will be welcomed with open arms. If you have been, continue to go, it is so incredible. Our God is an awesome God and He blesses us so much, we owe it to Him. Rock on, Breakaway Ministries, keep on doing you!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
