Seven Statements All Second Semester Seniors Will Make

Being a second semester Senior is a completely different ball game than being a first semester Senior. It's about to get REAL. You're about to graduate. This could mean that you could be starting a new job, traveling across the country, starting a graduate program, or moving back home with your parents. Although, graduation means everyone will be taking different paths there is a certain commonality amongst second semester seniors that unites us for one last time.

Here are seven quotes all seniors will say at least once during second semester.

1. "I'm a Senior"

You have spent three (maybe more) years waiting to be at the top of the chain again. Now that you are a senior you are telling everyone. You may be in a 200 level elective class and remind your classmates all that time "Yeah, I know. I'm a senior". You could be at the library and someone will offer you assistance, but you'll reject it and say "No. I got this. "I'm a senior". You'll dismiss a hopeless suitor who is only a junior with an eye roll. "As if! I'm a senior".

We get it. You're a senior. Good for you. No really good for you it's an amazing accomplishment, but really...we get it.

2. “I’m Broke”

You've probably been broke for most of your college years, but there's something about second semester that reminds you that you really are broke. Your friends are going to want to go to all the bars in town, go on all the school wide trips, shop at all the local stores, eat all the local foods before graduation and you're going to have to say no sometimes because "I'm broke". You might be saving money to buy a car, to move out of your parents house, to pay for Graduate school, or to buy graduation pictures. Whatever the reason is you're probably going to be saying "I'm Broke" a lot more your second semester of senior year.

3. “I don’t know”

Most college students hate the "What are you doing after college" question whether you are a freshman, sophomore, junior, or first semester senior. But, there is a certain annoyance that comes when you ask a second-semester senior that question. Some may know and some may not. There are so many decisions a second semester senior has to make and so many paths that can be taken. So don't ask us every time you see us because just like the last time you asked "I Don't Know!"

4. “I’m in the Library”

Second Semester Seniors come in all shapes and sizes. Some are graduating with honors, some are average students, and some are worried about keep their GPA afloat. Either way at some point during their second semester you will hear any senior say "I'm in the library". For all second semester seniors this is the last chance for them to raise their cumulative GPA, get better grades in their major, and finally connect with a professor in their minor course. In between napping, learning, bonding, or partying, the library is the next best class you can find a second semester senior.

5. “I need to call my Mom”

As a twenty-something we are all getting to that age where we are learning that sometimes parents actually do understand. Your parents are there for all the rollercoaster of emotions that occur during your second semester of senior year. You're always going to have to call your mom. When you are low on rent because you had to buy a graduation ring you're going to say "I need to call my Mom". When you get an interview for a job you really wanted you're going to say "I need to call my Mom". It's amazing how you go from rolling your eyes freshman year when your mom calls waaaaay to often to running home every day to update your mom on the latest thing in your life. That's what being a second semester senior does to you.

6. “I Love You”

This phrase can come in many ways. You can drunkenly tell your friends "I Love You guys" when they hold your hair back as you hurl your life away into the toilet. You can say "I Love You" to your roommate who is moving to a new apartment across town after graduation. You can heartbrokenly utter "I Love You" to your long time significant other as you end things for more reasons than one. "I Love You" is one of those phrases that can mean so many things. It can indicate new beginnings, endings, love, or heartbreak...all of the things that a second semester senior experiences.

7. “Yasssssss!”

You just got that job with the 50K starting salary, "Yasssssss"! You got an A in the class where you had a group project with your ex, "Yasssssss"! You walked across the stage in those 6 in heels without falling, "Yasssssss"! The school's basketball team finally won against their biggest rivals and you won $200 from winning the bet, "Yasssssss". As emotional, and complicated, and important second semester senior year is there will be many "Yasssssss" moments that you can look forward to. So don't stress about all the shortcomings because around the corner is another chance for you to shout, "Yasssssss". Second semester senior year menas a lot of accomplishments are coming your way. Yasssssssss you did that ! Whatever the that may be!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
