7 Quotes For The Daily Life Of A College Student
BraintQuote

As I have been going through this past year of college, many of my friends have brought helpful quotes to me. They are constantly reminding me of these to help me keep myself on the right path. Quotes are an easy thing to think of on a daily basis and use to keep yourself accountable and engaged. These are the top 7 quotes that I remind myself while I live at college and that I think are important for other college students.

1. “A friend is what the heart needs all the time." – Henry Van Dyke

I have been challenged with appreciating my friends and spending my time wisely with them. As a college student who lives on campus, this may be my only chance to live so close to my friends and have such a tight community. This quote reminds me to be thankful and enjoy every day.

2. “Unless you are forever taking active steps to prevent it, life will simply pass you by.” – Russell Eugene Welch III

This quote has reminded me to constantly be in the moment. As I mentioned earlier, college only happens once and I only get the present, so I need to be aware of opportunities and take them when possible.

3. “Education is not preparation for life; education is life itself.” – John Dewey

Students tend to take college for granted and not make an effort to learn and grow as a person because they are too busy “preparing for life after college”. As students, we should be constantly trying to learn in grow in ways other than just classes. We should be living life to the fullest while we can.

4. “Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. If you love what you are doing, you will be successful.” – Albert Schweitzer

Many college students, myself included, are challenged by the idea of whether or not we can be successful in the major we choose. Sometimes the majors are difficult or not widely accepted as a “successful field” to go in to. I was challenged by this quote to choose what I can be happy in and the rest will fall into place.

5. “What you do today can improve all your tomorrows.” – Ralph Marston

As students, we are constantly faced with choices that may or may not always seem significant, like what job to pursue over the summer or whether or not to do your calculus homework. This quote just reminds us to make wise decisions that will affect the future in the best way possible.

6. “Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail." – Ralph Waldo Emerson

I constantly am trying to think of ways to make my resume pop out to employers and seem unique to help me get a job. When I read this quote, it reminds me to think outside the box and take risks when it comes to choice I make for my future. Go big or go home.

7. “The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step.” – Lao Tzu

Everybody brings this quote to me, reminding me to try. Trying is sometimes the hardest thing to do, but yet it is by far the most important. Whether that comes to trying a programming class, changing a bad habit, or applying for a prestigious internship, every decision starts with step one: deciding it is worth trying.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
