Finally, it's summer. You're done with another long semester of classes and you have a little time to do whatever you want. Maybe you have a job. Maybe you're in summer school. Maybe you're traveling. Maybe you're working at a camp. You could be doing anything, who knows? But I can pretty much guarantee no matter what you're doing for the summer you've gotten these awkward and/or annoying questions from family and friends so many times you might scream at the next person that asks.

1. What are you studying?

A fair enough question. But nobody ever wants the actual answer.

You: "I'm an Underwater Mathematics and Physics of Basket Weaving double major with a double minor in French Theater and the study of right pinky fingers."
Them:

2. What are you gonna do with that?

Usually, the answer is right in the name of the major.

Them: "What are you gonna do with a Human Resources Management degree?"
You: "Uh...hopefully I'm gonna manage some Human Resources."

3. How's school?

Well, I cried myself to sleep every night during Finals week cause I was on the verge of failing multiple classes, I'm tired, overstressed, overworked, and dreading having to do it all over again in a couple of months it's good.

4. You gaining a little weight huh?

When your family has no chill and you've been hitting the dining hall a little too hard you'll get this one. If I pay for a meal plan I might as well use it.

5. You meet a nice boy/girl yet?

Everyone thinks college is a place where people just start pairing up, hooking up and getting engaged at random. They're totally right. But not all of us are out here wifed up. And when you're single having to talk about why you're single a dozen different times at the family cookout isn't exactly how you want to spend your summer.

6. Whatever happened to that nice boy/girl?

If I haven't talked about her in a while it's probably because we broke up. Thanks for being the eighth person to have me explain the circumstances today.

7. When are you going back?

Dang, mom. I just got back home. Trying to ship me back out of here already?

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
