7 Promises To My Big
Abby Latta

Since joining a sorority, I have come to find that Big/Little week was my absolute favorite. But not for the reasons you may be thinking. Yes, the week full of gifts was incredible and I cannot wait to shower my future Little with gifts, but my favorite part about Big/Little week was actually finding out who my Big was. Now, and ever since that night, my Big and I have been so close, and we grow closer every day. We have just spent the last summer apart, and I actually hated every second of not being close to her. She has done so much for me, helped me pass math, pick out dresses for Greek events, to helping me decide what to do with problems in my personal life.
I know that when she took me on as her Little she promised to be there for me, to guide me, and much more. So Big, here are my promises to you.

1. I promise to always be there for you.

Big and Little relationships are not something to be messed with, especially when a crazy Little is involved...I'm that crazy Little. <3

3. I promise to always try to help you keep your life together.

Considering the fact that neither one of us can manage to keep things together at all times, this should be interesting, but I swear that I will always try my hardest to help you keep your life in one somewhat solid piece.

4. I promise to always go out with you

Because partying with you is the best kind of partying.

5. I promise to always hate your exes

You will always be my big, and I will always protect you, therefore I will always hate your exes for hurting you.

5. I promise to always try to give you my best advice

I know I don't always know exactly what to say, but I promise to always try my hardest to make you feel better...even if that means making you pizza rolls and ice cream.

6. I promise to always make sure you know how incredible you are

Big, I love you! You are so incredibly important to me and I need you to always know how amazing you are. You are one of the smartest people I have ever met and I cannot even express how much you mean to me, so I promise to always do my best to make sure you know that you're actually the best. ...does that make sense?

7. I promise to always be the best little I can possibly be

You being my Big has been the greatest part of my college days, so I promise to always be the best little I can be. Whether that is keeping you on track at the library or holding your hair back, I will be the best for you!

You are the greatest Big I ever could've asked for and I would never imagine having another person. Thank you for always being my lunch date, my shoulder, and my confidant. I am so lucky that I get to return the favor.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
