As Independence Day rolls around each year, you may find yourself struggling to find fun ways to celebrate it. Going out of town can be impractical, and nothing is better than the comfort of your own home. Fireworks, picnics, barbecues, or day-long excursions are definitely the best way to go for those who are planning a stay-cation, and luckily, the metro Atlanta area has a variety of events for every type of celebration. If you don’t already have traditions of your own, there are some fireworks shows you can check out around town this holiday such as the food trucks at Duluth Green Town, Cumming Fairgrounds, or Country Club of Roswell. However, if you are looking for something unforgettable, here are some of the grandest displays Atlanta has to offer!
1. Stone Mountain Park Activities And Laser Show
Stone Mountain offers a large variety of daytime attractions including their Summit Skyride, the SkyHike, the Geyser Towers obstacle course, their museums and so much more! If you stick around for the evening, you can grab a spot on the field and have a picnic while waiting for the Laser Show Spectacular in Mountainvision® to begin! The show includes drones, flames, iconic music, special lighting effects, special Fourth of July fireworks and a gorgeous view of the Confederate Memorial carving.
2. Lake Lanier Islands Special Events And Fireworks
Aside from their thrilling waterpark, Lake Lanier hosts special events such as volleyball, live music, dining specials and of course, a fireworks show. The firework display over the large body of water is a breathtaking sight you definitely don’t want to miss!
3. Peachtree Road Race And Fireworks At Lenox Square
The Peachtree Road Race is the perfect way to begin your holiday morning! Participant selection is limited, but many people make ita tradition to volunteer at the race or to watch and encourage the runners as they pass by. Lenox Mall also offers one of the largest Fourth of July shows in the Southeast! With over 10,000 fireworks, delicious food and special performances by Sons of Sailors and Party on the Moon, your stay-cation may not be so bad after all!
4. Independence Day Fireworks At Turner Field
Since this is the Atlanta Braves’ last year in this large stadium, their final celebration here is sure to be phenomenal! Thisholiday, the Braves will play the Colorado Rockies. Before the game, there will be a special military tribute, Columbus Air Force Base will fly over and Corey Smith will be singing the national anthem. If you are a baseball fan, one last Fourth of July at Turner Field is perfect for you!
5. Fireworks And Entertainment At Centennial Park
Due to the park’s popularity and size, Centennial Park hosts the largest fireworks display in the entire Southeast. These fireworks are exceptional, and you won’t want to miss special performances by Montell Jordan and J-Fly!
6. Star Spangled Fourth At Mall Of Georgia
bringing in guest star Mallory Wilson to sing the national anthem. For younger kids, the movie “Ants Trippin” will be playing, and following that, the movie, “Woody’s” will play right before the show. After the show, there will be a late night showing of “Mockingjay – Part 2.” For an outdoor movie experience on a 70-foot large screen in addition to incredible fireworks, be sure to check out Mall of Georgia this Independence Day!
