Big sister, I still wish I could be just like you. You always dressed your Barbies perfectly, shared your bed when I was too scared to sleep alone and achieved your dreams like a boss. You have always been the best example of who I want to be. Plus, you knew how to flip channels quickly, so we wouldn’t get in trouble for watching the "Kardashians" - that has been a valuable life lesson.
1. Big sisters are always there to play.
Well, it was "play" when we were like 15 years younger, now it is watching reality TV together and eating sushi. Big sisters are the best for spending time together and enjoying every minute of it!
2. Big sisters always have your back.
My sister was always there to defend me, even in second grade when she and her friends chased my crush around the playground because he did not like me back. Sisters are willing to fight your battles for you, especially big sisters. They get so protective!
3. Big sisters enjoy a good laugh with their little sis.
My sister is the only one who thinks I am funny. Well, sometimes. Like any other pair of best friends, we have a million inside jokes and constantly make fun of each other. It usually comes from silly TV shows, so we end up rewinding the scene 13 times.
4. Big sisters are always encouraging.
The biggest life lesson my older sister has taught me is to work hard to achieve your dreams. I am a proud little sister, and she is a proud big sister. I can't help being a proud little sister when I watch her achieving her goals. She is my biggest cheerleader, even when it is the dream of finishing a Netflix series in a week.
5. Big sisters are so loving.
We might get in silly fights over clothing, but at the end of the day, there is no one else with whom I would share my new makeup and my favorite shirt. We love each other. It's pretty simple.
6. Big sisters always make sure their baby sisters look good.
My sister has taught me numerous makeup tricks. It can be annoying when she does not like my outfit, makeup or hair, but she means the best. We bond over getting ready in the morning. I wouldn't understand a beauty blender, liquid eyeliner or the importance of good brows without her.
7. Big sisters love to baby their little ones.
Sisters are always taking care of each other, but as the baby of the family, I get to be taken care of even more. My sis pays for lunch more than I do, gives me makeup that is the wrong shade for her and constantly makes sure I feel loved.
I won't trade being the little sister for anything because I have the best big sister. We might fight over what to watch on TV and need space when we spend too many days together, but I love her for taking care of me and for being my best friend. My sister is not just someone who shares the same parents as me; she is my best friend. So, go hug your big sister!
