I think that New Year’s Resolutions get a bad reputation. All too often, they are vehemently complied to until around February when everyone seems to forget about their resolutions. I think that part of the reason for this lack of interest after a month is due to goals that are unrealistic and don’t fit with your life. That being said, I also think that the first of the year is a motivating time and the prime opportunity to change for the better. Here are some New Year’s Resolutions that are not only realistic, but also motivating and easily incorporated into every day life.
1. "If it doesn't make you feel fabulous: don't do it, don't buy it, don't keep it."
This covers so many aspects of one's life. In order to feel your best, it's actually quite simple--stop doing things that aren't beneficial. The only things you need to spend time on are ones that make you feel "fabulous," and otherwise, they're really not worth it.
This one is for the people who want to focus less on social media and the necessity to take pictures. Some pictures are fun because they bring back good memories, but there is no reason to obsess over it. You will have way more fun without worrying about getting the perfect shot to post on Instagram.
Sometimes this is all you need to get you through the day. After a cup of coffee and some hardcore rap, I know I feel motivated and ready to conquer the world.
4. "Sweat like a pig to look like a fox."This resolution is about 100 times better than the standard "I'm going to work out more this year." It emphasizes the value of working hard in order to have the end result you really desire. Plus, it's a concise and creative way of phrasing a New Year resolution.
5. "Don't say maybe if you want to say no."This is for the people who have a problem being way too generous. I'll put it simply: you can't be everywhere and do everything for everyone. Learning how to say "no" is important, and what better time to work on this than the new year?
6. "Well, why the hell not."This resolution is for the people who need more "YOLO" moments. 2016 is time you will never get back, so why not take full advantage of it.
7. "Do your squats, eat your vegetables, wear red lipstick, and don't let boys be mean to you."Whenever you have the urge to put off one of these, this quote in the back of your mind will give you a gentle reminder. All of the aspects in this quote are meant to increase confidence and help build a better you.
Now get out there and make 2016 your year!
