7 Important Pieces Of Life Advice From My Mom

Moms are the greatest gift you have in life. They shape you into the person that you have become and they will always be there for you. They also give the best advice when its needed and are always there for you.

1. Never go to bed mad.

We've all done it and woken up feeling so much worse. No matter what hard thing you're going through or who's giving you a hard time, you should never go to bed mad. Even if you can't resolve your issue with a specific person, find joy in something or someone else. Call up your best friend, talk to your mom, watch your favorite tv show.

2. Get rid of toxic people. Surround yourself with people who treat you right.

Sometimes it's hard to know who has the right intentions, but it's clear that if someone wrongs you more than once you need to move on. It may be scary to get rid of friends but sometimes it's what needs to be done.

3. Always be kind, you never know what someone else is going through.

Kindness is key, even a smile to a stranger can change that person's day. You never know everything that someone is going through, so make sure that you treat everyone with respect. Also, little acts of kindness can go a far way.

4. There's nothing like a great sister.

Your siblings are your best friends that you're stuck with, but they can relate to you in a way that no one else can. Never take your siblings for granted because they love you more than you know.

5. You can do anything you set your heart and your mind to.

Never get discouraged, life can be hard sometimes. The best part is that if you really want something, you can achieve it if you keep trying. But also remember to not waste your time on something you really don't care about.

6. Friendship should be easy.

When you find the right people it should be easy. Yes, everyone goes through rough patches with their friends, but you shouldn't have to work so hard to be great friends with someone. Also, always remember friendship is a two way street.

7. When all else fails, just know your mom will always be there for you.

No matter what life hands you, your mom will always be there waiting with open arms, and if you're away at school, a phone call or FaceTime call can do the trick too.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
