Nothing makes my fangirl heart beat faster than the (painfully) slow burning ship that is Stydia. Over the past 6 years, us Teen Wolf fans have been through hell and back. We've dealt with a few unbearable characters, heartbreaking deaths, and yes, some stellar couples. Stydia has been in the making for 6 seasons, and finally during this year's mid-season finale, all shippers rejoiced. Stiles has made it out of the friend-zone and went straight into the end-zone so here's a recap of the best Stiles and Lydia moments during Teen Wolf's final season.
1. "I didn't say it back" "You don't have to" (6x10)
As if I have to be the one to tell you that this iconic Stydia kiss was the highlight of the season!!! Their relationship has been in the making for 6 years and it's all lead up to this season's finale. After being taken by the ghost riders for 3 months, Stiles returns to Lydia and finally knows she loves him back. WARNING: NO STYDIA SHIPPER WILL EVER RECOVER FROM THIS!
2. "Remember how you were the first girl I ever danced with" (6x01)
Jeff Davis surely knows how to kick off a season while also tearing our hearts apart. In Stiles' final moments before being erased from everyone's memories, he takes the time to lay out all his feelings for Lydia (and says I love you for the first time!!!). Before she can even say those 3 words back, he's ripped away and forgotten. *sad face*
3. "When I kissed him" (6x09)
Still can't find my pulse after this hella emotional episode. Scott, Malia, and Lydia have to slip into a hypnosis state to remember their memories with Stiles to ultimately bring him back. When it's Lydia's turn, the show gives Stydia flashbacks of moments that date all the way back to the first season. Yet, it's when Lydia relives her first kiss with Stiles during season 3 (ya know - the average way to stop his panic attack), she remembers that was the moment when "it all changed" and that she never said I love you back.
4. "Do not kiss me" (6x01)
Right before Stiles was taken by the Wild Hunt, he shares this ultra cute moment with Lydia. It's her who cracks the code and finds out what the Ghost Riders are and what they do because shes a genius, but we already knew that. It's Stiles who has never doubted her smarts, and in this moment he was so excited he kissed her on the cheek. And then ran away like the big dork he is.
5. "I can see you Stiles don't stop" (6x10)
"The kiss that opened the rift" is what Teen Wolf called this but I call it "The kiss that opened the rift and cut me deep in the soul." As I said before, Lydia's memories sparked an emotional connection which did not just let her remember everything that's happened in Stydia-land but also tore a hole in space-time which ultimately lets Stiles escape the Wild Hunt. WHEN HAS ANY OTP EVER???
6. "Oh my god you know me? You remember me" (6x05)
The first major step in the right direction. After following breadcrumb clues that a Stiles existed, this moment confirmed that they needed to save him. Communicating over a radio, Stiles connects with Scott and Lydia and tells them to go to Canaan, where they eventually find more answers. But bet money that when Lydia remembered what he said to her before he was taken we all had a heart attack.
7. "Nothing's really changed" "Everything's changed" (6x10)
The perfect way to close out this mid-season finale. Put this scene side by side with the very first episode of Teen Wolf ever and try not to cry at the amazing character development. In season 1, Stiles (who was a naive Stiles with a school boy crush) says hi to Lydia (who was a popular Lydia who used to pretend not to be smart) and she walks right past him like he never existed. If looks could kill then this scene set me on fire, then stabbed me, then put me in a casket.
8. "You won't be taken, you'll be safe" (6x06)
When Scott, Malia, and Lydia visited Canaan like Stiles suggested, they find it to be a ghost town. The Wild Hunt had invaded in the 80s and took everyone except a banshee. She tells Lydia that she'll be safe since they won't take banshees but homegirl doesn't care if it means she can't be with stiles. UGH 10/10 CONTENT.
9. "Lydia, is this about Stiles" (6x05)
Three words: ouch, ouch, and ouch. Poor Lydia, she feels so upset and frustrated since literally everyone around her thinks she's insane for believing Stiles existed. They tell her to let it go and that he's not real. After trying to convince Stiles' parents to keep looking, they tell her she's taking it too far and that she should talk to her mom. Lydia excuses herself so she can cry in front of a wall that's covering Stiles' old room. (Pssst, don't worry you two love birds, only 5 more episodes till you get to see each other again)
