7 Gifts To Get Anyone On Your List

It's about that time of year where everyone struggles to find gifts for their friends and loved ones. We try to avoid giving gifts that we know will be exchanged, so instead we stress and hope for the best. So to save the stress, here are 7 fool-proof gifts for anyone in your life (yes, even for your crazy aunt Betty).

1. Socks

SO let's be honest, if you are anything like me you have tons of socks, but every year you ask for more because at some point you lose one...then two...and then a whole year passes and you lost the match to all of your socks and you are forced to mismatch them until you get more. (Raise your hand if you have ever been personally victimized by socks.) These are definitely a great gift for anyone in your life.

2. Mugs

So many people drink either coffee, hot tea, or even hot chocolate. Chances are you already have about 600 mugs in your house, but they always tend to go missing or stolen or broken and I have never in my life, received a "bad" mug. They are the perfect gift.

3. Ornaments

Do you ever just go to Target and migrate immediately to their holiday section and then you realize you don't know how you got there, but what you do know is that you now have an entire cart full of ornaments that are perfect for everyone in your life? Yeah, me too.

4. Anything Handmade

Ornaments, cards, knitted scarves, knitted hats, knitted socks, ANYTHING HOMEMADE. First off, chances are that it is cheaper. Secondly, the fact that you took the time to make it instead of punching Becky in the face for one just like it on Black Friday says a lot.

5. Candles

Probably one of the most basic gifts you could gift anyone, but they are always the best. I burn candles in my house all the time and usually I don't even care what scent it is. I don't know very many people that wouldn't love a delicious candle to burn around the holidays.

6. Chocolate

Unless you are one of the sad souls that actually doesn't like chocolate, this makes a great gift. Go to your local chocolate factory and pick up some sweet treats for everyone in your life. They are excellent and even if they don't like them, (sorry for them) this is definitely a gift you can just pass on to someone else by bringing it to work or another family function.

7. Giftcards

This should be your very last resort. Unless you are the impossible 13 year old to shop for so you just give them gift cards instead of actual clothing or other things since no one "understands that it isn't a stage, mom".

Remember to shop local this holiday season as well, your neighbors need the money more than the big CEOs!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
