7 Feelings Non-Freshmen College Students Have
Holy Kaw

This past week, most people have moved back to school and started college classes. We all know freshmen and transfer students are universally excited and terrified. But how do the rest of college students feel about school? Well, I have found that everyone has very mixed reactions and emotions about returning to college. Here are some feels that many of us can feel:

“I can’t wait to be back with my friends!”

Most of us live spread out around the country, far away where we can freely bother each other. I mean, you still can through Facetime, group chats, Skype, etc. However, it’s still not the same. Now, since we’re back, all we have to do is take a stroll over to someone’s dorm to hang out.

“I don’t want to wooork!”

Or in other words, let’s just ditch responsibility and watch all the Shrek movies. While some classes are fun to attend, studying, group projects, and papers aren’t. All you want to do is hang out with people when you have shiploads of homework to do.

“Ugh, I have to get up early again for my 8 am class.”

Some people like getting up that early, but a lot of us don’t. As a result of early classes, it can literally be a struggle for night owls to get out of bed. Also, you just may love sleep and never get enough of it.

“I miss these people.”

If you knew any seniors from last year, you’ll notice almost all of them are gone. You find yourself discussing their achievements and etc. with freshmen who have no idea who these people are. And then, you feel empty inside because a void has opened up because the seniors are gone. This can also apply to people who have transferred, withdrawn, etc. It’s truly a sad time.

“Thank God those people are gone!”

If there was a person you didn’t like that left school, you can be more than overjoyed that they are gone. Whether it be an ex-bestie, someone you used to date, or just some jerk in your hall, they’re gone. Keep your fingers crossed that you never have to deal with them again.

“Yay, its recruitment season!”

If you’re involved in Greek life in any shape or form, this time of year is for recruitment. Whether it be done formally or informally, it’s definitely happening. Everyone is hyped to gain new brothers and or sisters to add to their family.

“How has time flown by so quickly?”

Although applicable for anyone, this is the biggest source of feels for seniors. This is their last year of school, after this they have to take the next step into adulthood. Whether it be entering the workforce, attending grad school, joining the army, or anything at all, they have to have a plan. And to be frank, it’s incredibly scary. Yet, you wouldn’t have it any other way.

Have any other feels that weren’t included here? Please leave a comment below on this article! If you liked it, please share on Facebook! Thanks once again for reading!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
