Not feeling well? Stuck in bed? Avoiding work? Just plain bored? Or, if you're just too lazy to actually give your attention to a TV show, this is the list for you! These are the shows you can have on in the background, fall asleep to-- they're relaxing. No high stakes here, no grandiose story to follow. Now, don't get me wrong, they're good shows, just easy to watch without exhausting yourself. In absolutely no particular order (the numbers mean nothing). Here we go!
1. "Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee"
This is a new show that came onto Netflix last month, but it's been on Crackle.com for years. It's a kind of niche talk show where Jerry Seinfeld interviews, or really has a conversation with, comedians while driving them in cars and getting coffee (hence the title). It's a great show, each episode is at max 25 minutes, so very easy to do, and you really don't even have to watch it, just listen and laugh. It's that easy!
2. "Cake Boss"
This one's on Hulu. Although, 100% not as good as Ace of Cakes (which isn't streaming anywhere unfortunately), this show is as good a substitute as any I guess. Feel free to put the show on mute when the extremely wealthy family pretends they have problems and argues with each other (because it's a TLC show, if there's no stupid drama is it actually TLC?). Just turn it up when they actually start to work on the cakes (only about half the episode). They never turn out as good as Ace of Cake's Duff and crew, but they get the job done.
3. "Friends"
Back to Netflix for this one. You know the characters because you live in the US. Pick an episode any episode and start watching. Tune in and out as much as you'd like here's the Friends cheat sheet: Rachel's complaining, Ross is loud, Joey is flirting, Phoebe is doing something strange, Chandler is freaking out, Monica is cleaning, but it doesn't matter because Gunther steals the show. There we go! Now you're all caught up!
4. "Seinfeld"
When Seinfeld dropped on Hulu, I think the world stopped for a second. The show that everyone stops on when they're channel surfing is there for your viewing pleasure. Whether you know every line, or have no clue which one Kramer is, it's always a good time to watch. What's easier to watch than a show literally about nothing.
5. "How I Met Your Mother"
The more modern Friends, with a little bit of a twist. This one has a clear direction to it, but don't worry, it's in no way intense. Pretty much the same rules for Friends apply except the cheat sheet changes, here it is: Marshal is fun, Lilly arts around, Robin is there, Ted complains, Barney flirts. There we go! enjoy!
6. "Parks and Recreation"
I'm going to save you time and needless effort, the first season is season 2. The rest is easy. It's fun, light, quick humor that will build the more you get to know the characters. If you want to watch it the easy way, go fo it! But, this is a really fun show to watch regularly so I'd recommend it either way.
7. "The Office"
Whether you have a favorite episode, or want to binge it from the beginning, this is a great and easy show to get involved with. Again, same rules apply with Parks and Recreation except just skip the first 3 episodes of the first season. Once you start laughing from one episode, you'll look at the clock and 6 hours will have flown by. I promise.
Well, there we go! There's a short list to get you started. Binge watching is about finding a show that works for you, so feel free to explore as much as you want on your own. There are a lot of shows out there that can be easily watched, but don't require a headache either. You're welcome!
