With warmer weather just around the corner, fruits will be starting to reach their peak season for your cooking and snacking needs. To get the most out of your fruits this spring, or to just try something new, here are some suggestions for ways to change up your kitchen.
1. Pack a punch
This punch uses three different types of melons to create a fresh, crisp taste. Topped off with mint leaves, this punch is a great option if you want fruit without simply eating a few strawberries. It was a favorite at my graduation party amongst friends and family alike, and the melon balls make great ice cubes as leftovers! It is a fun activity to do with your children, and it is well worth the effort, but it will be gone soon after. Get the recipe here.
2. Make a pizza
As a favorite amongst great-aunts everywhere, you can’t go wrong with a fruit pizza! Fruit pizzas are a great, colorful way to decorate a family table; they can be eaten as a snack or a dessert! Made with a cream cheese frosting and a delicious crust, fruit pizzas are a perfect way to ease your way into the spring season. It takes only about an hour to make, with chopping included, plus it is great to snack on the fruit while making it! Get started here!
3. Keep it!
Instead of baking and going the extra mile, just make a dip for your chopped fruit, changing it up and also keeping it classic! This 3-ingredient dip keeps it simple and allows for splurging even on the laziest days. Enjoy here!
4. Freeze it!
Ice pops are perfect for a warm day, and what better way to have it than with healthy, delicious fruit? These strawberry-pineapple popsicles are perfect for outdoor parties and for sitting on your porch enjoying the sun, awaiting summer!
5. Chop it up
Some people may prefer a simple fruit salad when eating their fruit. It’s simple and not as messy, and can be eaten with a fork! This very berry cheesecake salad from The Recipe Critic looks too good to resist, and it is easy to substitute your favorite berries.
6. Bake it!
If you want to prepare for the fall before it’s begun, why not take a twist on a good old classic? These apple pie baked apples are not only gorgeous when prepared, but are completely delicious! They are perfect for rainy days that are sure to come during the spring. Staying warm has never looked so good.
7. Make it sweet
With finals time quickly approaching, healthy snacks are important for both the young and college-aged student. These mango homemade fruit roll-ups take a bit of time and effort to make, but oh, do they look delicious! And they are great to have for on-the-go lunches and for a trip outside, or a picnic.
These are some ideas to spice up your kitchen this spring and summer, but there is no need to stop there! Hopefully you’ll be inspired to reach out and change up the fruits in your pantry- I know I will.
