It's back to school season, which means you've already abandoned your unlimited meal plan to eat at the hundreds of restaurants Dallas has to offer. Since we've been gone over the summer, some new Dallas eats have opened their doors, welcoming any and all hungry college students. Skip an Arnold or Umph dinner and opt for these delicious new restaurants instead.
1. Street's Fine Chicken
There's nothing better than some Southern comfort food. Located on Cedar Springs in Oaklawn is Street's Fine Chicken. (And man is it fine.) Chef Tony Street brings French style and cuisine to meet Southern comfort. Try the Chicken Lollipops, Pimento Cheese Fritters and Chicken Flame-Grilled, Chicken Roasted and Toasted, French Fried Chicken or Chicken Fried Steak.
2. Cedar Grove
Featuring a decor inspired by a "modern forest," Cedar Grove showcases a farm-to-table menu. Chef Taylor Kearney brings a social nature to dining by including sharable plates on the menu. Try the Kennebec Fries, Breakfast Flatbread and Country-to-Coast Benedict.
3. The Independent Bar and Grill
This new restaurant is located in Deep Ellum. Described as serving "European comfort food," this urban-rustic eatery is sure to not disappoint. Try the Root Beer Pretzel, Mussel Frites or Pickle Fries.
4. Dos Jefes
When you combine Latin and Asian cuisine, you get Dos Jefes. Serving tapas in a tequila bar atmosphere wouldn't be complete without interactive LED boards and Video DJs. Try the Coca Cola Carnitas Tacos, 'Volcano' Sushi and Dulce de Leche5. Knuckle Sandwich Co.
Recently opened on Lower Greenville, Knuckle Sandwich Co. serves craft sandwiches. Soon available for delivery, this new hot spot is not one to miss. Try the Pastrami Hoagie, Knuckle Sandwich or Ahi Tuna Sandwich.
6. Laili Restaurant
The Market shed at the Dallas Farmer's Market has a new addition, Laili. Don't miss out on their Brunch — the added Mediterranean flare won't serve you a mere regular French Toast. Try the Chapli Kabobs, Eggplant Bruschetta and Bolani/Gozleme.
7. Whistle Britches
Think Whataburger's Honey Butter Chicken Biscuit is the best invention known to man? Try the Whistle Britches' "fried chicken biscuit drizzled with honey butter and pepper jam." Try the Crispy Chicken "Oysters", Hot Dang (Nashville style hot crispy chicken, toasted white bread, dilly ranch, bread n' butters) or Chicken of the Sea (Beer battered Mississippi Catfish, old bay-dill tartar, fresno chili-apple slaw).
