7 Buildings That Exist On Every College Campus, As Characters From 'The Office'

For those who never went to college or went to college many years ago, it's safe to say that college campuses are a mystery. But as I've gone through my first two semesters on campus, I've definitely noticed that each building has its own personality, and each student that spends their time there has some unique characteristics of their own.

And, as an avid lover of "The Office," it only seems right that I try to explain my discoveries through one of my favorite TV shows.

1. Starbucks

We're coffee addicts. It's a given. And while no one has poisoned the coffee yet (thank goodness), they could probably take out the whole school if they tried it!

2. Frat houses

I've seen many breakups and many sobbing sorority girls at frat parties when their date ditches them to hang out with his "brothers."

3. The dining hall

The food may be subpar as we reach the end of the semester, but you'll still undoubtedly see students stuffing their faces with every combination of food and every number of plates possible.

4. The bookstore

I'm obsessed with Miami gear, and it's so hard to avoid the temptation to go check out the new stock every week or so. One thing that I do always see on my visits there is students and potential students cringing when they see the price tags!

5. The Student Center

The perfect place for naps!

6. The classroom

Those 8:30's are killer. There's nothing else to be said. In any classroom, especially an early one, you're bound to see someone holding back tears as they're miserably counting down the few remaining minutes til freedom!

7. The Rec Center

Nothing but meatheads with biceps the size of a pickup truck showing off for their buddies and guys playing basketball with their friends. Still, nice to visit it during one of the less busy times of the semester.

Sometimes I really do think I'm living in "The Office"...just a much bigger office, that you live in, with people you spend every waking moment with. Next time you're on campus, take a look around, and you might just be able to hear Michael and Dwight planning some ridiculous scheme or see Jim looking at the camera crew in exasperation.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
