Are you looking for a fun new place to try for some good eats? I love to eat more than I love my phone and that is saying something. So I pride myself as a professional eater. I have compiled a lovely list of my go-to eats.
1. Gomez Salsa
Gomez Salsa prides themselves on just what their name says: salsa. Gomez Salsa has a 4.5 star rating out of 5 on Yelp with loads of raving reviews. Everything about Gomez is fresh. The tacos and Turtles are absolutely to die for but the salsa is what has me hooked. I literally cannot get enough of their pineapple salsa. I probably would put it on everything if I could.
2. Taste of Belgium Rookwood
I don’t know what I love more, the Waffle and Chicken or the patio. The coffee is to die for with killer baristas. So whether you are looking for a latte and Waffle and Chicken or a mimosa and a Brunch Burger, Taste of Belgium is your spot. Their Rookwood location is the newest endeavor in the Taste of Belgium family and it is really taking off. This is the go to place if you want to brunch outside as it is getting nicer. For those of you who do not want to brunch directly outside the Rookwood location offers an exciting feature of open garage doors that are opened on weather permitting days.
3. Carl's Deli
Carl’s is literally the best place to get a nice sandwich or pasta salad and head to a nearby Park. Carl’s is a Hyde Park staple and once you taste the sandwiches you will understand why they have been around since 1938. A number 20 on the menu and a side of ranch pasta is my personal recommendation. However they have a little something for every sandwich connoisseur.
4. Eli's BBQ
My mouth is actually watering just thinking about Eli’s. If you haven’t been hooked on it yet you’re totally missing out. Their barbeque is nothing less than superb. And what is better than bring your own beer? They also have a killer outside seating area with ample pick-nick tables. I could actually eat their mashed potatoes and jalapeno cornbread until I got sick.
5. Kung Fu Chu's AmerAsia
Craving Chinese food? This should be your go to spot. I actually have dreams about this place. Their orange chicken is actually to die for. For the small corky restaurant they have a large beer selection and an even better menu selection. I adore their peppered steak and wontons. This is a must if you have never tried it. Portions are generous and flavors are ample.
6. Areti's Gyros
If Findlay Market wasn’t a fun enough adventure, add into the mix the best gyro you have ever eaten. I would like to pride myself in good gyro and baklava taste (I have zero credentials I am simply a self-proclaimed eater). These gyros are huge and literally take two hands to hold. Not only are they delicious the service is kind, quick, and personable. It is absolute one of my favorite things to do on a nice day.
7. Quatman Cafe
I am about to say a college kids/anyone’s favorite words: cheap beer and cheap cheeseburgers. These cheeseburgers are huge. I can honestly say this place has some of the best cheeseburgers I have ever eaten. On their cheeseburger special nights you can get a drink, fries, and cheeseburger all for under $10!
