Being in a relationship in college is such a stigmatized thing. So many people say college relationships tie you down during the best years of your life. However, I tend to disagree. Here's some benefits to being in a relationship while in college.
1. You always have someone there to listen.
Whether you're having issues with your friends or school feels like it is too much to handle, there is always someone there who will gladly sit down and let you vent to them.
2. You don't have to deal with college hook-up culture.
While your friends tell you about their latest hook-up and question if it could lead to something more or not, it's nice to know you have a committed significant other.
3. You always have a cheerleader.
If you have a hard test coming up or something you're nervous for, you will always have at least one person there for you, cheering you on, even on the hardest things.
4. You don't always have to try to look your best.
While it is good to try and look good for your s.o., you don't always have to worry about getting all dressed up for a night out. Plus, they still think you look good either way.
5. You don't actually "miss out."
There's a stigma behind college relationships that says you miss out on things. Really though, being in a relationship doesn't keep you from doing the things you want with the people you want.
6. You always have someone waiting for you at the end of the day.
When school feels like it is just beyond stressful or when life hits you with something hard, there's always going to be somewhere there for you at the end of the day.
7. You always have home.
Personally, my mom has moved from my childhood home and my dad lives halfway across the country. "Going home" isn't really the same for me anymore, but being in a college relationship allows you to have something stable that can be like home to you.
