When college students leave home and go to school, we leave behind friends, family, and many of the familiar comforts we've grown used to having near. Many aspects of home are dearly missed by us, but for those with dogs at home, their furry little faces are some of the things we miss the most. Here's a list of 6 times college students miss their dogs:

1. When we need someone to cuddle with

We can cuddle with our friends here at school if they're down for it, but there's nothing like reaching for your four legged friend and handing out belly rubs until they'll willingly stay in your bed all day.

2. When it's a nice day outside

When we're home with our dogs, walks are a necessity on the first few beautiful spring days of the year. There's plenty to do at college when it's nice out, but sometimes we just miss spending time with someone who appreciates sunny days more than any human ever could.

3. When we're in need of a good listener

Sometimes we just need to vent, and dogs are the only ones who will be all ears without judging or giving unsolicited advice. Usually they'll hold our gaze for hours as we talk, but it's not even insulting when they fall asleep.

4. When it's snack time

Our dogs are always down for some guilt free snacking. Peanutbutter? Chips? Ice cream? The only time they judge you is if you don't share.

5. When we're in the mood for a joy ride

Nothing beats a dogs reaction to "Wanna go for a ride?" and even less compares to seeing your dog's head hanging out the window on the passenger's side.

6. When something exciting happens

Remember your when your first college acceptance letter came in the mail? Who was by your side? When something exciting happens, there's no better friend to share the news with than your dog. No one will jump around and bark with us, whether there's a reason to or not, quite like they will.

There are many things to miss when we're away at college: our family, our friends, our own beds... The list continues. Despite the countless items to be listed, topping that list for many college students are our dogs. Sometimes the days are long without our dogs by our sides, but one thing we look forward to just as much as Mom's home cooked dinners is our dogs greeting us at the door.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
