Just remember, you deserve it.

The beginning of each new year is always so exciting, for so many reasons. In part because the previous year is (finally) over, and also because we can't wait to see what the upcoming year has in store for us. We all know it will most likely be filled with some very high points, accompanied by a few lows, and everything in between. Whatever the year 2016 brings for you, here are a few things you should know you deserve throughout this year.

1. Support

Every human being on the planet will face their own set of challenges this year. Everything from applying to schools and jobs, to getting married or divorced, to finding a new place to live. Different people mean different places in life, but wherever you are in life, and wherever this year takes you, you deserve support. It can be from family, friends, colleagues, anyone. Support and encouragement are sometimes just the thing we need to get us over our obstacle. And if you receive support, make sure you dish it right back out, someone could need it more than you!

2. Safety

2015's calendar year was dotted with events that definitely questioned our sense of security, unfortunately more than once. Safety and security are basic human rights that everyone deserves to have, no matter what part of the world you are living in. Luckily, there are plenty more good people than bad in this world. A sense of safety is so important, and every people deserves it.

3. To say yes

New year, new you, right? Change the way you look at opportunities. Instead of turning away from something that maybe scares ya a bit, trying saying yes, because you really deserve it. A sense of wonder and adventure are accompanied by the acceptance to try new things! Say yes to that date, he might not, but could be your soulmate. Say yes to finally taking a trip to Australia, you deserve to experience the world. Heck, say yes to trying calamari, because you might actually like it.

4. Romance

Sounds cheesy, I know. But hear me out. Romance is defined as a strong, sometimes short-lived, attachment, enthusiasm or fascination about something. This doesn't have to be with another person! Everyone deserves to fall in love, whether that be with another human being, or something as simple as the ocean. Find something you love, and if you've already found it, make it stronger. Go on dates, take trips, find new reasons to love everything there is about...everything.

5. Chance

This year, offer and receive a chance. A chance to start again, a chance to make up and create a better relationship, a chance to start anew. That's what this new year is all about right? Take chances, you never know what could come of it once you do. Everyone deserves a second chance if they mess up their first. Chance is an element that one could not live this life without, it keeps us guessing.

6. A donut

Really quite self-explanatory. Don't overthink it. If you see a donut, eat the donut. Because, donut's are damn delicious. Oh, and you deserve it.

Wishing everyone and happy and joyous new year!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
