If you are somehow unaware or living in a bubble, this past week was the presidential election and, whether you like it or not, Donald Trump is going to be the next president of the United States. I am not here to share my political views and fill your Facebook timelines with even more politics, as a matter of fact, I am writing to try to get us all to move on. While I respect everyone’s opinions, I think at this point it is best that we all move forward and unite as a country since there is no Facebook post that is going to change the outcome of the election. Here are some things you can focus on to distract you from politics:

1. Puppies!!

There is nothing that can melt a heart faster than looking at pictures of dogs, no matter what kind they are. It is impossible for anyone to have any negative thoughts running through their heads about the election when looking at these cute puppies! I recommend finding someone that voted against your candidate, or didn’t vote at all, and sit down and bond over the adorableness of puppy pictures because there is no way you can disagree about that.

2. Watch a Sporting Event

While it can be annoying for those who are watching with you, let go of all your frustrations on a sporting event. Go yell at a running back to keep running, yell at a quarterback for throwing an interception, or blame your team of whatever sports’ losing streak for all of your problems. Have your problem with people be that you support different teams, not supporting different political parties.

3. Go to the Gym

This is good for your mental and physical health. Use your anger and stress to inspire you to work out harder. Take a boxing class or a spin class. Even do some yoga to cleanse your mind of all of the negativity and just focus on yourself for a bit.

4. Go to a Kanye Concert

Honestly, go to a Kanye West concert whether you are mad about politics or just want to go to a Kanye West concert. Nothing says letting out your anger more than screaming rap lyrics that consist of a lot of curse words or listening to Kanye expressing his feelings through a rant that will make you feel like he is speaking your heart out for you.

5. Meditate

After all the yelling and techniques to get out your anger, find a good meditation online to relieve some stress and allow you to relax.

6. Look at More Puppies

Because who can resist?

All of the techniques suggested are things that you can do whether you are stressed about the outcome of the election or stressed in general. There is no moving backwards, only forwards. We all need to accept the outcome of the election last week and move forward focusing on the positives and remaining a united country.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
