Mom,
There are so many things you have done for me that I have overlooked and seemed ungrateful for. I'm really sorry for that. But, here are a few things I want you to know has not been overlooked and I'm extremely thankful for.
1. Staying up with me late at night to talk.
Whether another kid was mean to me at school, I got a bad grade on a test, I needed to vent about rude and crazy customers at work, or I was upset over something other friends or family members did, I always loved having these heart-to-hearts with you and I know I can always count on you to be there. You always let me vent and you never failed to listen no matter what was going on in your own mind.
2. Making me take a jacket when I was going out no matter how hard I refused.
I was a very stubborn child, and you know very well that if you told me to bring a jacket because it was going to be cold outside or wherever I was going, I had a fit because I didn't want to. The times when I did bring a jacket, I always needed it. And when I didn't bring one, I wish I had. You always knew what was best!
3. Sacrificing so that I could get things I wanted and needed.
There have been so many times when we have gone shopping and you have not spent money on yourself so that you could get me clothes or shoes that I needed or wanted. You always talk about how you need more clothes, but yet you still go without whenever there is something I need. I've grown up a lot now and I make my own money to buy things for myself, but you still continue to help me out when I need it. I don't know everything you sacrifice for me, but I know that you go without a lot and I'm forever grateful for everything.
4. Never saying "no" when I wanted a new Lip Smacker lip gloss.
If you knew me as a child, you would have known that I had every single Lip Smacker known to mankind. I even had repeats of the same flavors of lip gloss and chap stick. I know I annoyed you by asking for a new one every time we went to the store, but you always spoiled me and let me get one. It was very rare of you to tell me no, even when you really didn't want to spend more money. This is more than just thanking you for the lip gloss. This is a 'thank you' for all of the little things you did that made me happy, and how much you cared about my own happiness. I hope I make you as happy as you make me!
5. Cooking
I didn't realize how great home cooked meals were until I went to college. I also didn't realize how time consuming it was to cook until I had to fend for myself. Thank you for cooking almost every night as I grew up and for keeping your cool when I would get picky with the food you made. (Your cooking will always be the best!)
6. Being my best friend
You really are my best friend. I can't put into words how much you mean to me, and even though we get on each other's last nerve sometimes, I love hanging out with you and going out to get our nails done. You always make me laugh, especially when you're sleep deprived. I always have a blast with you!
